Ive been going the gym the last four months and when im doing free weights with dumbells like curls or hammers my wrists hurt me am i doing any thing wrong or are my wrists just weak

Strap your wrists up for heavy pressing are punching the bag

Constantly squeeze a squash ball when your walking around are sitting at home.

Do some rolling exercises with the Olympic bar No weights on though roll the bar back and forward from the tips of your fingers into the palm of your hand ' clinch and keep rolling it back and forward.

Your wrists, lower legs, ankles etc need hard-work to build up even if you have a few roids normally takes about 6 months to build up small muscles and strengthen tendons etc.

steroids wont strengthen tendons . . the feeling he is having could be the same as shin splinters . . lower the weight . roll a light bar say 10-15 kg in your hands . it will take time also fish oils as it might be the joints .

yup I know steroids don't strengthen tendons and ligaments just good exercise makes them more stable flexible ( I Think ) my wrists were letting my bench pressing down I didn't understand I had a big chest but was struggling with 70kg reps?

The gym gaffa strapped my wrists up one day for the bag and It felt great he showed me some basic wrist exercises within 4 month I was pressing 85kg might not sound allot but for a 10stone kid I was lifting 20kg over my own weight all because some older bloke showed me the all round need for strength in all your body not just sticking your biceps and chest out

thanks for that boys ill strap up my wrists and see what happens. i already roll a dumbell from the tips of my fingers up into my palm. the pain is mainly in my wrists and my lower fore arm.....nice one for the info boys

if its in the lower forearms mate its the tendond . and it feels like shin splinters . there is nothing at all you can do for this except rest them .

Aye, calm down on the weights. It's a common thing when people suddenly hit the gym and they develop a list of aches and pains.

You just have to calm down and wait for your body to heal, once it is healed it will be a lot stronger and more resistant.

I have got gloves which wrap around your wrists for extra support. This is a Chinese Tai Chi/QiGong thing, but rote your wrists clockwise and anti clockwise 10 times in each direction, stretching the joint away from you at the same time, a few times a day to help strenghen the joints.

And, as said i above posts, make sure you are taking a good multi vitimin and at least x2 1000mg codliver oil caps daily. Strength training is extremily demanding on your body so you have to replenish and nurish it or you will just rust up and things will start breaking.
