Just like to know how you guys feel about the olympic games costing over 9.1bn pounds, do you mind paying the extra cost on your council tax or should just london residents foot the bill.

Get ready for Recession as well after the games have finished.

If the Olympic games bring in income and develop run down areas then great. But somehow I think that the success enjoyed by other countries after the games will not happen here. It will just be lost in the on-going debate about the spiralling costs.

Is 5 years enough time to complete all the work ???

If the price has gone up in a couple of years from about 2.5 billion to over 9 billion, what's it going to end up costing! Most citys that host the Olympics end up paying for them for years and years afterwards.
I think it's a waste of money myself, but then I'm not a fan of Athletics etc. I do realise we'll get some new sports facillities, but you watch we wont have the cash for their upkeep after the games finish!

Exactly, It will genrate money, but will that money just remburse what they have laid out initially? I think you just have to visit Barcelona or other coutries that have held it in the past few years to see the ghost towns they leave behind.

It would'nt be so bad if they held big athletics events every other week after the olympics was finished but that aint gonna happen.

Complete waste of money.

to host them is an honour for the country , but after its all done and dusted what happens to the stadiums , some where down the line us folk will be paying for it

well if u want it simply put the richer get richer and the poorer get poorer

and have u heard they want 2.7 billon pouns just INCASE sumfing goes rong now that made me laugh

i dont care as long i pay no more f**king tax : dipsy :

This effects me personally as they are building an olympic mountain biking track (in Hog Hill Essex) which is 2 miles from my house and Stratford being 4 miles from my house :) I think it will be great that I will have use of all the great facilities once the olympics are over. the only problem is that I will be nearly 40 by then lol

If we start to encourage sport in schools so that we chance more chance of medals it is only a good thing. It would be great to see kids more interested in sport.

I also live in Sydney and the Aussies are still very proud of hosting the olympics and enjoy the facilities 7 years on.

I say bring it on and its about time we spent that lottery money on something alot of us will benefit from instead of the rich upper classes

It's an Obscene amount of money to waste and the final amount will rise..

its gona be so crap!!

Londons gona be busyer then normal! prices of stuffs gona go up!

were gona cum away with hardly any medals! n like its just gona be a huge PE lesson accross england! wer its the takin part that counts!!

its just another mellenium dome!

nice to read peoples views on this subject, personally i think its great thats its comming here only because the same as what munkey mentioned, i live about 2 miles away from startford also its keeping me in the job at the same time because the company I work for are one of the main guys who's building this complex. Its about time something good happened round this area coz its been shite for donkeys of years.

its going to create hundreads of jobs and businesses which is great.

the problem is its going to do fook all for ppl north of watford

yeah have you seen the amount off factory's and warehouses have been moved or closed..? To make way for this. What i saw was shockin... I know most off the area needed a revamp But it could have been handle better from the start.

I have mixed feeling about the hole thing and with a band c tax working out at 1400 quid this year how much is it going to be in five years when they over spend in a rush to finish the job.

Total waste of money for a spectacle that lost it's meaning decades ago. It's now just as commercial and corrupt as any other big business. The committee take bribes, the athletes take drugs and we foot the bill. And don't get me started on the proliferation of Olympic 'sports'.

We could've paid for regeneration projects around the country without hosting the Olympics and would've got better value for money.
