Why do people stop and stare at accidents causing havoc behind them. Got stuck behind one last night .... for 3 hours

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Ah the 'phantom' traffic jam. Usually caused by someone who brakes causing the person behind to brake, causing the person behind to brake, etc. etc. The result is a slow moving trail of cars. Very annoying!

thought it was called the "The Ripple Affect" just as you described

The police call those people "rubber neckers". It's amazing how much traffic can be slowed down by just one lane being closed. If people would just let one car go from each side into the one lane the jam wouldn't be half as big, but then in London people just are not nice.

I was stuck on the a12 yesterday evening for 3 hours just to get though the blackwall tunnel, wasn't in a good mood at all.

but why did the first person break lol :)

Why did the chicken cross the road?.

People do the funniest things, especially when driving. There are so many bad drivers out there. Its no wonder there are traffic jams all the time.

One pet hate is the BAD drivers who insist on taking tricky shortcuts which invariable end up with a left turn onto a busy junction being necessary.

All the time you save by taking the short cut is wasted waiting for one idiot to bully there way out on to the main road. If they are not capable of doing it why take the shortcut in the first place.
