take a look, have you vote.

http://www.virginmedia.com/customers/

theres a 52% of people unhappy and have decided to leave VM.

as this is there own site, obviously they must see how unhappy people are.

With the company needing a months notice i reckon disscusions will start again and hopefully sky one and the other channels will be back within a month. They must realise by now the customers there going to loose and as its only a cost equivalent of 3p per customer to keep these channels they will loose alot of customers and money from this.

well I gotta say I do feel for Vergin Media over this as from what I can see its not there fault,as said in other posts its good that VM have stood up to sky as it seems Sky are trying to take over UK tv
why would VM give any kind of refund on subscriptions ? as far as Im aware all channels that were taken off are part of VM basic (free) channels,so no refunded subsciption required(or am I wrong ?)

I phoned VM to complain about sky one etc being taken of air
the lady was very nice, she told me discussion's are on going
still with sky, but they reached their deadline at midnight 28th Feb
she did mention that there is still a possibility of us getting the channels back
but she couldn't confirm this at present.
Then she offered me a discount to my services, which i gladly accepted and got £16.50 off per month, asking how long this was for, 3months or 6 months, she said it would stay at that price for as long as i stay with telewest and it was cheaper than the 3 for £30. but all in all its not Telewest's fault its really a tit for tat between 2 mega rich stubborn people with us in the middle.

At present it is fool hardy for virgin media to crack the whip on sky, they have inheritted there media content customers from the backbone of ntl/telewest - now is not the time for them to have got into the arguement "on behalf of there customers".!!
They need to establish a competing channel to sky one and not some daft workup of old on demand stuff!!
Virgin now have a direct link into the homes of a vast amount of people and the possibilty of becoming a giant in the uk media market, but first they must keep there customers happy - not a single letter from them directly explaining the loss of these channels, there is no doubt many of there customers would have been taken completely by surprise at sky ones loss and they are no doubt quite angry about it.
Virgin media cannot expect to compete with sky until they can provide similar programme content of there own!! It is obvious sky don't want competition in the uk premier tv market place, but all the while virgin don't produce there own premier channels to rival skyone the must pay to air skyone, i am sure that even with paying this extra sum and charging on to customers with an explination of circumstances then most 99% would accept. in this way Virgin gain time to build there own premium content channels and this is how they compete. It is not helping customers to lose channels at all, it doesn't take the likes of einstien to see that.

i been thinking about this and for the time being myself have decided to stick it out with VM as i believe they do have the capacity to generate there own high content programming in the coming 12 months or so and once they come to realise the way they should be challenging sky instead of the childish tactics that are currently being employed i am sure these lost channels will be putting in an appearance at least for the next year so as to give VM time to build there own premium channel.

remember it is only sky 1/sky2/news /travel .sky could also come down hard on them saying that "u" (virgin media ) are complaining .if u did some thing about your servies which are so freely hacked then u/and us could make more money to compansate for the price rise .and maybe it would not have to be as must ..do u not think that s*y knows that virgin in so hacked .and that is why that 50%.are maybe more people have it .i wonder how many would if it was not .

if the price was competitive i would stay with VM.....why wouldnt anyone........even if i lost sky sports and movies ........ as these can be viewed elsewhere in europe.

Skys pricing is silly and to me cant be justified. As TBC says if virging media can get/produce quality material then Sky has a big battle on and this can only be good for the consumer

That link is down at the moment, no doubt its crashed by a mass of angry Virgin Media customers' trying to vent their spleen.

maybe thee embarrised at the amount of people who are annoyed and want to leave the company, especially the comment page, almost 3 in every four emails was saying there dissapointed in the loss of there favourite shows and are moving to sky. didnt they realise the impact this could have on the loss of customers.

I totally agree how much money do they really need in their pockets............ they and future generations could not spend possibly spend it all in this lifetime and the next :ASSFLASH:

Typical customers though, Sky increase the costs, then pull the channels and VM get all the stick. I'm personally with Branson on this one as VM pays Sky not per customer but effectively a lump sum for these channels and everybody in business likes a steady inflow of cash so looks like Sky have just got too greedy.

Its a simple case of good V's evil for me (Branson vs Murdoch) i personaly hate Murdoch and all that the twat stands for, i have faith in branson and think that people should give him a break and time to sort out the mess Murdoch has left him in.
Branson will come good, im sure of it.

Well now, I'm usually the first one to condemn people who gossip on these forums but....

My friend became "friendly" with his engineer and as I have already said in other posts the engineer ended up offering my friend a modded hd box for £100.
Yes please says my friend.. the guy was supposed to have fitted it yesterday, however he rang my m8 and told him to hang fire because he believed even more sky channels may disappear in the next week or two!!!

He said he'd know more by next tuesday & he'd let my m8 know the outcome.

Could be total bullshit I know, but all the same I'm intrigued.

Anyway.. discovery turbo? .. wtf is that all about??? :ASSFLASH:

ok got it all sorted now - got my sky1 2 and 3. tunred on my skybox after a long break. i will of course continue to receive virgin media products in full and paid for, i got a substantial discount this month so i spent the saving on sky channels lol, cos i know richard branson didn't want to - its the last season of SG1 ffs and we are having the world premiers on sky one UK.

I bet old Branson is not without Sky One - he will have a full sub to Sky at home.

yes and no doubt it will be a free full sub because of the number of new sky subscirbers he has brought to sky lmfao

I can't see many reasons why Branson would need Sky 1-3. Pretty much all of it's content is repeats or available to download via various methods (including vm newsgroups) in higher quality and without adverts earlier than Murdoch can supply.

Personallly I was considering switching too the VM vip package a couple of weeks ago, and I did so today without any mention of the loss of sky channels so you may even to get a better deal than I did.

I got the Virgin VIP package (without additional box) for £72 / month, which for me equates to addition of sky movies & sports plus upgrade on broadband from 4MB to 10MB for around a fiver.

i have hated sky from day one
ever scince the fu**er wanted to charge for box office sports even though you had subscription on all sky sports
the guy is interested in money only
i mean look at him still charging 100 quid for sky + boxes
and wants 300 for the hd box and then charge you an xtra 10 quid a month for using them
when are people gonna realise if you keep paying this guy what he asks for he will only get more greedy
he is a selfish ba**ard
virgin are givin you a free hd box
and murdoch wont give them the hd channels to put on
i think its about time a big fish came in and had the financial backing to stand up to sky
sky have always got the prices they want wich are ridiculous
and i cant wait to see them go down
and i might be wrong but i think that virgin have the capacity to offer much better services than sky
if you look at the 3 for 30 deal that alone speaks for itself

all mr branson has to do now is get a couple of american big guns onto his platform (HBO,TBS...etc) sky one will become sky done.
