I was parking my car yesterday & managed to stall it as i didnt take the car out of gear when i lifted off the clutch, tried to start the car straight after and the car would turn over but wouldnt start. Tried to start it tonight as i was getting it towed, the car started, but there was no response from the accelerator and the car would then just die out. Any ideas?

Cheers

more info m8 wot car and year and engine size

You sure its not a coincidence mate and its ran out of petrol? cars dont normally stall then not start up again !!

car

definately not petrol, put some more in from a petrol can. On the tow back to my house I had the hazards on and the battery went flat before i got back, would that suggest the alternator is at fault?

Check your petrol pump or carburetor

No the battery would go dead with you using the hazzards and lights ect without the engine running. Maybe you have a plug off or a HT lead has broken down.

maybes but the car would still start if it was running on 3pots,just run like a bag of sh!te.

try taking out the spark plugs one at a time with the ht lead connected rest the plug on something metal, like the exhaust manifold and get someone to turn it over for u to see if the plugs are sparking m8

I use a spark plug bolted to a crocodile clip To test this.. As the shock can hurt !! i would advise caution when handing live Ht leads.

The first things i would do is test for spark.. then for fuel in the carbs and your air flow and vacuum pipes..

A full charge in the battery wouldn't hurt. Before hand and test the alternator with a voltmeter..

Did the car overheat..? and what color is the oil and water..? Maybe get a compression test done. To be sure your valves and gaskets are ok

fixed

Thanks for the info,

managed to get the rust bucket fixed today, turned out to be the ignition module
