Hello Guys

Does anyone replace car keys/fobs?

I am looking for a replacement as my fob is shorting the battery out so drains automatically but unsure why.

Thanks

Depends on the car. I have bought a couple of ford ones from eBay before and linked it to the car. Can’t remember exactly but I remember having to turn the key a couple of times and press a button or something. It will be different for make and model I am sure.

Hi

Yes if replacing just the housing but i suspect i need a new fob with the board too as this may be faulty you see

Yes the board aswell. And the car has a process to accept that key.
I have never done it but the more expensive manufacturers tune the fob to the car.
What car are we talking about?

Mobile car key guys are good and about half the dealer price. New fobs need programmed to the car. All keys ie spare plus new need doing at the same time.

I think I have seat fob if it’s any good to you.

Im sure if you have a blank, Timpson's key and shoe repair lol can code the new key if you can not do it via the car and cut it from your old one.

Rescued me with a Transit key mishap. Was not cheap £40 plus the blank from ebay

Thanks for the replys guys

I did have one replaced by Timpsons about 2 years ago when i was away on holiday and it was around £40 , The key part had snapped off.
The guy was brilliant and the key fob was brand new with the key cut worked perfect.

Just had this one done at a locksmiths and brand new fob key cut and programmed all working fine now and the other key i can use as a spare
