I just moved to an apartment with a Lutron HomeWorks QS system (from SEP 2016)- and it is working fine.

Unfortunately the installed Lutron Connect Bridge could not be updated and Lutron replaced it for free (nice :)).
I turns out that it is not possible to just replace the old bridge with the new one (very bad!!))
The new bridge need to be added to the system via HomeWorks design software (mentioned in the documentation).
Apparently you can't do that yourself ... which is really annoying ....

I managed get hold of HomeWorks QS Design Software v. 3.0.0 and in "terminal" in the program I could get the below information about the system

Wednesday, January 20 2021 at 23:31:58 - QNET: 2021-01-20 23:32:25: (TX) FIRMWAREREV
Wednesday, January 20 2021 at 23:32:17 - OS Firmware Revision = 10.4.0 [Sep 07 2016 17:49:27]
Wednesday, January 20 2021 at 23:32:17 - Database Design Rev = 300033
Wednesday, January 20 2021 at 23:32:17 - BOOT Firmware Revision = 2.2.0

I could only get information and change IP address ect. - but I could not download the database.

Can I use "BETA Lutron HomeWorks QS Lighting Software" v.10.70 - if not what do I need?
If yes - do I need to download the database - then add the new bridge - and the upload the revised database -
or how do I do it?

Best regards
Carsten

Hi Carsten,

No, you cannot use software from 11 up as the software is restricted to installers.
And I think its 15.4 when they introduced the connect bridge (last year).
Which means you need a mylutron account and be a qualified HomeWorks QS installer before they will enable your account.

I know this is painful in your circumstances as you probably don't want to program anything just upgrade the processor software to match the bridge. However it does stop unqualified persons working on newer Lutron systems which stops the brand being diluted by poor installations.

you should really have this under warranty and speak with the developer and see if they can send the engineer to upgrade the bridge, this is a 5 minute job to be fair without programming.

I would also ask the landlord for the program file too, (you can still pull the database from the processor) but this will stop with Lutron QSX which is the newest version of HomeWorks just being released now (2021).

Good luck, you will probably need to google a Lutron Installer in your area, I would expect you paying around £90 an hour for a Lutron engineer (London Prices lol).

Hi Mick,

I finally got an Lutron engineer - had to pay AED 750 (= 146£) for less than 20 minutes minutes work .... (Dubai prices .. LOL not .. o_O )

No the Lutron Connect App is working - but strangely only HVAC Zone 1-4 can be controlled not zone 5 & 6 .
I downloaded DbXmlInfo.xml - and compared the HVAC zones but the look the same ... so now I need a Lutron engineer again .....

Any idea what could be wrong?

Best regards
Carsten

Is this a Palladiom Thermostat you are having issues with?

Lutron controlling HVAC, yes it can be done but I would expect that it would be 3rd party integrated into Lutron?

Also sounds like the engineer missed zones 5&6 and should be a simple add this to the system kinda thing, another £146. or ask him did he miss it the first time he might sort it for free (fingers crossed).
