Hi guys

I have an alienware m17x r4 laptop

a couple of weeks ago i had some issues with my mainboard (not always booting , random cmos beeps etc.)

Anyway i decided i will change out the motherboard , all has been fine and dandy apart from onie really weird thing.

The integrated graphikcs card is fine but the discreeet one (nvidia) isnt.

the bios completely refuses to acknowledge that it has one installed.

The card has been tested in another alienware of the same revision and all seems to be fine, ive even tried another card in my laptop and it still doesnt seem to detect anything.

now ive done a lot of reading online about this and i have had many many mixed responses , dell have said this , someone else says that etc ,

Has anyone had this issue before and if so what did they do to resolve it.?

Its not a massive issue apart from the fact i have a maxed out alienware that cant play games LOL and seeing as ive spent 3 hours pulling and re assembling it i would like to at least get a little enjoyment out of it :) its almost like having your favorite car sitting outside your house and you cant drive it lol.

Thank you to anyone who looks at my rather large essay

Well i thought the same thing but then its a brand new motherboard , im not saying that just because its brand new that it cant be faulty however i have read a lot of people out there having this issue too , some have fixed using unlocked bios's (not really something i want to try as i could potentially create a lovely doorstop for my fromt room door

If it new then I would get on to the seller. If it is not showing up in BIOS/UEFI then it has to be the slot. Hve you try something else in the slot to see if it detected?

Not sure where you got the board from but most a limited time in there return policy. Best not to waste any more time on it and just exchange for another.
