Utterly batsh*t crackers, thank God I don't live anywhere near their 'protests'!

Ah, Paul Joseph Watson.

Here's something from the horse's mouth so to speak:

Helpfully, one of the founder members of the group, Stuart Basden, has let the cat out of the bag and told the world that, in his words:

“Extinction Rebellion isn’t about the Climate. You see, the climate’s breakdown is a symptom of a toxic system that has infected the ways we relate to each other as humans and to all life. Delusions (of white supremacy, patriarchy, Eurocentrism, hetero sexism/heteronormativity and class hierarchy) have become ingrained in all of us, taught to us from a very young age. The task of Extinction Rebellion is to dispel these delusions. We need to cure the causes of the infection, not just alleviate the symptoms. To focus on the climate’s breakdown (the symptom) without focusing attention on these toxic delusions (the causes) is a form a denialism. Worse, it’s a racist and sexist form of denialism, that takes away from the necessary focus of the need for all of us to de-colonise ourselves.”

Knew there would be some "isms" and "ists" in there (indicative of an intersectionalist)... Are you sure that site isn't a parody @Him Her?

I thought that ER would be useful idiots in some bigger scheme.

Looking at his blog hurts me head; "heteronormativity" LMAO - This has to be a trolling blog.

"As Europeans spread their toxicity around the world, they brought torture, genocide, carnage and suffering to the ends of the earth. Their cultural myths justified the horrors, such as the idea that indigenous people were animals (not humans), and therefore God had given us dominion over them."

Slavery wasn't a European invention, neither was torture or genocide. One example - Africans were sold by other Africans or people from the Middle-East. He's having visions of white men wearing pith helmets dragging rope net bags of black people out of the bushes. Britain sent the Royal Navy around the globe to abolish slavery, but it is still practiced in some places.

"This was used to justify a multi-continent-wide genocide of tens of millions of people."

Sounds like what communism has done.

Could probably go through his whole delusional blog, dissect it, and refute it, but I have more important stuff to do, eating, drinking... I don't even bother arguing with these sorts in real life as it's like trying to reason with religious zealots.

The site certainly has a lot of parody pieces on it but that quote is repeated in many places, including XR's own site(s).

I lifted that part from an online magazine I occasionally contribute to and I'm pretty certain the editor, whom I know, will have researched it properly given he's a journalist. It would need to get past legal too.

He can't put a proper sentence together, I'm sure I make mistakes but... Not an Ad Hominem, but I get suspicious of people who can't make an effort to get things right when they want to put it on a stage like that.

"When a bus is driving with a certain momentum towards a person, it gets clearer and clearer that it will hit the person."

A certain momentum? Not just momentum?

Buses don't "drive", it would be "bus being driven", and the rest of the sentence seems to have been written in a way to incite "dramaaaa"!

That is the sentence of an twelve-year-old.

I don't know the words to fully describe it in terms of language but the sentence ("it gets clearer and clearer that it will hit the person") is tautological. There is a bus heading towards someone. Why, isn't it immediately obvious that the bus will hit the person at some point? It doesn't get "clearer and clearer" as it was always going to happen.

"My ancestors are European, some of whom claimed to ‘own’ people as slaves. There are black people with the name Basden in the Americas, and I have begun to mobilise my (white) family to make contact in order to seek to pay reparations."

This is definitely a trolling site. "Reparations" is the give-away.

The biggest laugh is this:

Anthony Johnson (colonist) - Wikipedia

Yes people, USA's first slave owner was black.

Don't they all talk/write like that? Something to do with their 'intellectual superiority' I believe.

"None of these delusions have ended, although some of the arguments that supported them (e.g. phrenology) have been dispelled."

Which delusion was supported by phrenology? Answer please, Mr Basden.

I know the Nazis, eighty years ago, tried something like that.

Get a room the pair of you!

@nara, the reason you aren't banned is that we laugh at you, and keep you as a comedy item. You have had zero technical input to the forum in the time you have been here.

You probably aren't stupid but...

Have you never thought of the reason we keep you about?

I'm going to start a thread about a carpet beetle (really :)). People will like it more than they like you.

A tad harsh from an Admin @Spectre IMHO. Takes all sorts to make a Forum, maybe we don't all have technical input. Just my tuppence worth.
HH.

He's a waste of time and always has been.

I'm sure many fingers have hovered above the ban button while his name is in the box. I keep him as a strange sort of pet to look at, like my carpet beetle caterpillar.

When did you get promoted to full admin? Only just noticed :) Congrats man!

@nara isn't as bad as he used to be. Either that or i've grown to like him in the years he's been here. Im pretty sure he was banned at one point when the exodus to the other site happened. But as with all good things, he was forgiven and allowed to return, he often offers a differing opinion to those on the site, and I welcome that.

i guess the option to choose what posts you read mean you can moderate how much you read of any members posts. I can’t say I have ever had an issue with Nara and have found some of his comments interesting, same as anyone else. Did seem a tad harsh when we are often reminded not to make personal attacks on members. I’m not sure I have ever offered technical advice, other than passing on what I have learned from others on the forum. Didn’t check what time posts were made, maybe late night after a few beers?

Deary me!......the guy makes a general post (get a room the pair of you) about 2 people having a conversation between them on a forum, it's said on all forums and you go full John Bercow on him?, no need and quite frankly unbecoming of an admin on this site.

I just looked at the comment as joke as I do with a lot of posts made on here. I suppose horse’s for courses.
There is always two sides to a story and usually the other party is the cu*t in both of them🤔😉
