Convert vhs tapes to digital

I've been meaning to do this for about 5 years. I first sourced out a VHS player second hand (that werent cheap) then a scart to usb software and an adaptor.
Now I cant find the gizmo and the remote for the VHS has done a bunk.
Destined never to get done saying that, it's only our wedding :)

Is that a holding company until stock is gone or something like that?

Shame, as I did used to get stuff from there.

They did the same thing as Aitken Brothers (Anyone?, @spud1966), and went down the DJ and lighting supply route when electronics hobbyists dropped off. It didn't last. I suppose any high street shop like that would be doomed. Tandy... Beatties...

Worked for Tandys years ago, the once a month stock take was a nightmare with all the individual resisters and record needals

I use a Panasonic DVD Ram recorder, unlike a DVD Recorder the files it makes are digital video files and NOT VOB DVD format files.

You can just copy them from the DVD Ram disc in the PC and play them without any conversion. Then you can just delete the files from the Ram disc, no need to format the disc like a DVD-RW.

The RAM discs are also re-writable many times and double sided, although you need to turn them over.

DVD Ram discs came out a good time before DVD-R or DVD+R but are not used as much now.

That’s the one I bought off eBay for £7.90 including postage. It was still sealed in the box. Guna do the transfers during the winter months. Then guna let HappyH use it.
I'm an impatient bugger I bought one off eBay too mate, haven't figured out how to get it working yet though 🤪
HH.

Edit to add: I've bought this from eBay today, hopefully solves the problem. I'll let you know.

My bad. I should have told that I installed the driver from the website as I could not use the disk that came with the adapter. The device is found when I plug it in and I have installed the conversion and editing software. The only thing I have not tried is too convert a vhs tape yet. But I will give you holler if I have any strife. Also I have read the software is a bit limited for editing. Good luck🙂

you can buy combi vhs / dvd recorders. i think panasonic make them you can record your vhs to a blank dvd in real time.
or you can just download most old vhs titles now any way saving you the headache off converting them
