You can get some good stuff FREE off the net. Are you talking acoustic or electric. Chords or picking. Musical notation or tabs ??

Tabs tell you where to put your fingers on the frets and for me are easiest to read.

Trust me, the internet is your best resource for learning guitar. I learnt more about music from the internet than any book has ever taught me. My guitar playing just rocketed using the internet. I completed all the RGT grade exams within a couple of years of starting.

Best places for you to start are:
www.cyberfret.com
www.wholenote.com
www.taborama.com
www.mxtabs.net

There's literally thousands of guitar sites. The forums are a great place for support too.

BTW, Red Hot Chili Peppers songs are great to get started on. There's quite a few that are pretty easy but not so easy that your guitar playing doesn't start to improve much.

Songs like Californication and Otherside.

Bob Dylan songs are good to start getting used to chord changes too.

i just had a look at thoses sites kriss they are very usefull indeed a lot of good stuff in there

Betty Lou's Guitar site

betty lou This is by far the best beginner guitar chords site I've seen, you can even listen to the midi if you dont remember what the song sounds like. They might even have some tina turner there (boke) :toiletcla I'm sure you'd appreciate that lol! :ASSFLASH

Has to agree with Kris here, I've learn't how to play both chords and solos of virtually every beatle song you care to name, all the tabs came from the internet, and 99% are 100% accurate.

If your into fingerpicking - not as easy as some make it out try learning blackbird & yesterday, absolutely brilliant songs too, plus you'll learn virtually every note on the guitar fret board.

For Barre chords, personally I found I feel fine, and roll over beethoven the hardest learn, along with Paper Back Writer, crack these and from my own personal view point, barre chords are now a breeze.
