So, i decided to try out the high performance PC streaming service Shadow.

So this company provides a PC that you stream over the internet to play all games on ultra. They claim to have virtually no lag and any tech issues, i.e component failures are taken care of buy them. Update of graphics cards etc are done on regular basis so your optimally streaming at ultra settings. Now this is not just for games, you could install Photoshop or any intensive app and your ageing PC at home will still run it like you were running it locally. Your getting access to a full computer and you install your apps like you do on a PC. With the apps for android, ios, Mac and linux you can continue where you left off! Wanted to run linux at home but still need the functionality of windows for some apps this is for you.

I'm doing the maths to see if this service is a viable aletrnative to buying your own computer for gaming. My PC i built this time last year cost me in the region of around £750. 1 years Shadow subscription cost me 312(or £26 a month (£16 first month if you use my voucher code) If your a gamer then you'll be upgrading the graphics card in 2 years time, if not before.

I'm testing this out and will be installing Elite:Dangerous with Voiceattack and all Voicepacks so will update this thread once I have more info.

Benefits

* Really can play the latest games on max settings on old computers/tablets
* Unlike streaming game services, this is a complete Windows 10 computer, so you can do what you want (except bitcoin mining!)
* No contract so if it sucks, you can cancel straight away
* Free hardware upgrades for life.
* Gigabit internet is real!
* paired my microsoft controller easily!
* GTX1080 but with 16GB VRAM

Negatives

* Requires reliable internet (i tested setting the bandwidth to 5mb and the video stream was really compressed with lots of colour banding
* 4g playing was mega inconsistent
* Only a handful of supported countries

Storage could be a problem. The basic £26-95 package is only 256GB expandable up to 1.25TB. Games can be huge now, my Steam library alone is 658GB in size and has regular updates. I also have Uplay and Origin games so am probably around the terabyte mark at the moment.
My games collection isn't at all extensive and I expect the storage limitations would be far too low for the majority of serious gamers out there.

I've really only got as far as putting elite dangerous on it. In process of installing voice attack and the voice packs for elite as I'm pretty sure that voice control over streaming will give it a good test. Space will be an issue and I will ask them if the 'standard' loadout will get upgraded in the future as £26 is kinda hefty to start with.

Edit: I asked your question. - Youll be able to keep adding 1TB storage for £2.95 - Ofc none of this is exact/real information but best guess is you just pay the same price as how much you currently pay to get more storage

I may be wrong but will not the graphics be limited by the card in your local machine?
