Sure we used to have a gaming section but couldn't find it. I enjoy a bit of a shoot up but don't play online, I prefer a tactical thinking approach rather than trying to be a Rambo.
I've recently reinstalled win 10 so am gradually reinstalling my games. Hadn't been on Ghost Recon Wildlands for a while and was pleasantly surprised at the new Ghost mode, when you die, you die. The save disappears and you have to start from scratch.
Over the last couple of days I had spent over 7 hours on it and got to Level 10, wasted loads of baddies and upgraded some weapons and skills. I successfully completed my last mission by taking out 2 convoy vehicles and interrogating a guy in a 3rd vehicle into giving up an entry code. Was reasonably chuffed as I play without the "aid" of the AI teammates.

I then jumped back into my helicopter and went up about 50 metres before checking my map. Pressed the B button to exit the map but must have pressed it twice, my character jumped into the passenger seat and the helicopter fell like a stone, exploded in a ball of flames and killed me.
Gutted doesn't quite sum it up  Wasn't sure whether to post this here, Fun and Laughter or the Rant room. What a total plank!! :)

LOL

Been looking about for something to install to play.

Have you seen the size of some of the games installer-wise!

Was looking at FPS from 2012 onward which would match my graphics card etc.

Here is a look at my Steam folder, I also have Origin and Uplay.
My favourites are probably Ghost Recon Wildlands, MOH and MOH Warfighter and most Splinter Cell offerings.

I have been following ED since the start fus10n but know it still has it's problems. Bloody expensive as well to buy some of those ships though they are nice and a lot of work has gone into them. I like the simulator aspect of it but I'm not ready for space yet :) I prefer the realism of the Medal of Honour series and feel it's such a pity they ended.

Don't discount Elite they do sell the commander edition for 19.99 at various points

Have you thought about destiny 2? It has a mix of PVP/PVE and the raids would test your problem solving skills!

I'm an oldie now fus10n, realism is a must. Nothing older than ww2 up to present time.

I ended up downloading and installing Unreal Tournament 3 and Quake 4.

Then I had the urge to return to my Amiga emulator.

You can get quake champions free on steam if that's your.kind of thing?

Just watched this parody of Ghost Recon Wildlands, brilliant!!!

You cant beat PC gaming..
My 2 lads have ps4's...xbox 1's...and they both agree my PC blows them out of the water.
Forza horizon 3 in 4K is amazing.
I have all the most popular games...but 1 game i always go back to is nova logic's Black Hawk Down...even though this game is almost 16 years old .. the multi player is very much alive. I still have hours of fun online.

Hello Chaps,

I've recently built a "mid-range PC" - nothing too crazy but I think a ssd drive, 20 gig ram, 8 core cpu and a RX480 8B card is sufficient to play most latest games at 10800p with high settings.

I've not been part of the pc gaming scene since the late 90's - good old 3dfx and g-force days and games on CD's from boot sales - 20 - 50gb install per game seems to be the norm these day :)

Ive just crated myself a steam account and downloaded a couple of "free to play" games but obv multiplayer capability is not available.

Some of the games are available on the usual sites but not sure if they work as they should (i.e multiplier option).

I used to enjoy Unreal Tournament, Doom etc. Do we have any other options but to download games from the developer sites and actually pay silly money for them?

There are sites like scdkeys.com where you can buy the cd key cheaper than the original price.
I got battlefield 1 and cod inifinate warfare for £20 which was over 50% cheaper than buying them from the developers site.

You can still use torrent sites for games but obviously you lose the MP with cracked games.

Would sooner pay for mine tbh but not too much. Will normally wait a while before buying then use sites such as cdkeys.

oops, just beat me to it Kryton

cool - thanks chaps!!

Doom steam cd key at scdkeys.com for £9 sounds like a good deal :)

Any recommendations for some reasonably priced games (not bothered if the games are a few year old) as long as they're fun to play online.

Check out the humble bundle usually has some good offers on Steam games and some freebies too. They also give some of the money to charity too!
