Any one recommend a wireless infrared receiver and transmitter that my mate can use to control his sky box from another room. If there are other wireless option please let me know.

It must be a easy to setup cause I want him to set it up himself as he lives an hour away.

Im at bit confused by this thing it says it needs "an optional IR Eye extender cable " to Control equipment in a cupboard.
Because it relies on line of sight,an optional IR Eye extender cable is small enough to fit inside the cupboard along with the box to be controlled.

do the pyramid+remote+extender work on line of site? I thought the reciver would transfered the signal to the transmitter via RF and then the transmitter would retransmit the infra red signal. so if the transmitter was in the cabinet it would work.

With or without an extender, these systems still rely on line of sight. Infra-red from remote to transmitter and infra-red from receiver to box to be controlled. The rf between the transmitter and receiver counts for nothing unless the other 2 conditions are met.

They do not rely on line of site, I have a transmitter in my kitchen and one in my bedroom, the receiver is in the living room with the skybox, works a treat,

Put something between the remote and the pyramid or between the other pyramid and the Sky box and then tell me it works ;)
I thought you were a tv engineer mate, should know how infra-red works.
I already stated the pyramids connect through rf but they have to convert the IR to RF and then convert back from RF to IR. Still need the line of sight

I have two transmitters in different rooms, one on a different floor, Have you got line of sight confused mate ? The receiver/transmitter in the room with the box to control has to have line of sight of course, hence the need for an extender if the box is in a cupboard,

Which is exactly what I've been saying. I'm not the one who is confused
I've just looked at Grimeire's post again and noted he mentions the receiver pyramid would be inside the cupboard. I missed that and of course that would work without the need for an extender.
I was just explaining the need for line of sight and can't think how I could make it any simpler.
