@river4ever They are live channels and look better than the HD channels. Whether they are pure uhd it is difficult to say but they do look decent imo....

My provider just put 96 movies in 4K in VOD section.
Even put “Bohemian Rhapsody” in 4K
🙂

I have seen 4K live streams also.
And no need for 4K device.

VOD you should be fine getting as 4K, as for the channels, i'd be surprised if they're natively 4K. I asked a supplier a while back about 4K and he seemed to think it wasn't possible due to bitrate required to stream at 4K natively. Unless things have changed recently.

I've got the Bohemian Rhapsody in 4K and it's 20+ gig and that's a rip of the UHD disc, I dont think it has full Atmos 7.1 or whatever they're using as it would be even bigger then. I've seen some UHD films coming in at over 70+ Gig, im not sure of the server power or bandwidth required to serve that up, but even in x265 that's still a lot of data to transfer.

Code:
You don't have permission to view the code content. Log in or register now.

That's just one that is available, there are smaller ones like around 14G, but even so still a lot of data to transfer especially to a lot of people at once. Appreciate servers are pretty cheap these days even for a 1Gbps VPS or even 10Gbps VPS, 37.2 Mbps bitrate is a massive amount of data to stream.

Some providers have/do live streams in 4K. My provider did stream some football matches in 4K awhile ago and was added in test channels. It was much more crisper than 1080.
(but test channel has since been removed)
I suspect it will be norm in the not to distant future to stream live events in 4K.

EDIT: but not everyone in this era could stream 4K with poor connections, you could only imagine 2 or 3 devices on same network streaming 4K.
