This is really going to be determined by the source of the media and what is being played back on.

For example, a 128k MP3 may sound good via a set of apple headphones. But absolutely sure through a set of Grado open can type.

Extremely subjective

A separate system will find better than a combined unit.

Vinyl can sound crap, I'd a crap needle has been used (poor sensitivity).

So really, many opinions of which a doubt anyone will agree.

Vote on the audio source you feel sounds the best!

You need to define the standard of playback equipment first of all. For example. you might think that cassette would have the lowest score, but are we talking Sony Walkman or Nakamichi Dragon?

I hear you... in fact I’ve heard that some Metal Tapes can apparently rival CD’s. That, I’d seriously like to hear for myself, kinda makes sense, analog tape at its finest

Excluding reel to reel of course. Apparently that’s the standard of tape. I’d like to hear one someday.

Vinyl for sure.. there is no better warm sound like the sound of vinyl

I voted vinyl for the quality, but as pointed out previously it's the hardware that makes the sound not the medium.

Also I would vote DCC ans the frequency responce is better than vinyl so you can record a vinyl record perfectly, but thay re not that widespread. They do make normal cosettes sound slightly better too.

A friend had a DCC machine back in the day and the quality of reproduction was stunningly good.

I opted for the cheaper Merrantz model rather than the Philips one, but the quality is the same. Not many retail tapes for it, now or then. Blanks were expensive but worth it for the quality.

Just as good these days to record on a cheap sound card with a turntable connected through a pre-amp. Most cheap sound cards can record 24 bit and much better quality than CD.

Techmoan's youtube channel has vids of loads of obscure audio & video equipment, really interesting.

I watch Techmoan :).

I have a Marantz PM-53 amplifier.
