A special version of Microsoft's utility "Upgrade Advisor to Windows 10" will allow users of Windows 7 SP1 and 8.1 to upgrade to Windows 10 for free

For users of Windows 7 and 8.1, the planned annual period of free upgrade to Windows 10 officially ended on July 29, 2016 . Immediately after this date, Microsoft launched a site designed for users with limited capabilities that use the technology for Windows. However, and he ceased to work on January 16, 2018.

However, with the Windows 10 Upgrade Assistant utility, which is still available for download from official servers, anyone can still perform a free upgrade to Windows 10.

best thing about this is you can upgrade pirated version of Windows 7 to genuine versions of W10.

just did that have Win 7 license with the Daz tool and upgraded to Win 10 without any issues

It seems they kept this option open to lure as many users as possible to Windows 10. I have upgraded at least 20 installations of windows 7 including the Pro version without any issues, you just have to make sure that your previous version is activated before the upgrade and everything works perfectly.

good shout, got an older hp laptop for the eldest and downloading has we speak. Doing a google search finds i may loose bluetooth capability but will post back.

It works great, have upgraded 3 machines this way, the most recent about a month ago

Still confirmed working, upgraded from win 7 pro to win 10 1709. Then overnight installed win 10 ver 1806 through autmatic updates. Had a few issues with drivers but that was down to hp not microsoft.

I have an old laptop that still runs on Windows XP.
Would anyone know if its possible to get a free upgrade to Windows 10 ???

There was no legit way to free upgrade to Windows 10 from XP. You may want to check your laptop's suitability for win 10.
Win 10 is quite forgiving but you may run into drivers issues
