I'm having a problem when opening taps. I get a noise like a hammer drill drilling into a wall when the water is running. Its some kind of vibration. House is 8 yrs old modern pipes. I am suspecting it could be something to do with a pressure regulator valve that sits directly above the mains inlet. House has no water tanks all mains plus combi boiler. I have tried adjusting main inlet valve but still get it. It can be intermittent but of late seems to be happening more often than not.

Any ideas @plumbers

Pipes aren’t clipped mate
Would that cause a sound like someone playing a tuba? Any other possible causes?

Float valve can cause that, usually when it’s ending the filling. Find them on bogs etc.
I’ve heard ceramic tap barrels make this noise aswell, dragging air back through the discs. Got any 1/4 turn taos that’s are dripping.

I will check . would this still happen regardless of what tap gets opened ie hot cold upstairs downstairs.. Im going to isolate the ensuite toilet cystern at the inline valve as ive recently changed a diaphragm seal in the flusher thingy.

@IANB usually happens on float valves when it’s filling but rule nothing out lol. Isolate bog as you said and if it carries on isolate other outlets.
Last time I heard it making a horn noise each time any tap/outlet was opened we traced it to the ceramic disc in the kitchen tap. Changed the barrels and that sorted it.

Update @gasman ive isolated the onsuite cystern and so far so good. I will leave it off for a couple of days and if all good i will try it back on and see if it gets noisy if so i will change the guts in the cystern :)

Right lads over to his house early morning for a waterpipe serenade tinkle.
