I have just purchased a 64 litre fish tank washed everything in water only and started the tank up filters and heaters included. My question is the tank and ornaments are full of micro bubbles? .Will this problem go on its own? Shall I use a fish tank sponge and wipe it?. Any advice please?. Thanks.

They will dissipate if left, I get it on some of my plants after a water change and its gone in a few hours, remember to cycle your tank before adding fish

The heater has just turned off now from an over night use so that is working hopefully. I won't be putting fish in until it's absolutely clear mate. thanks.

Cycling is more of a case of allowing a good build up of bacteria in your filters to reduce ammonia nitrate and nitrire, levels so they are safe for fish, run my tank for a good few days before I add anything, start with a couple of hardy fish and don't add any more until levels 0

So will these bubbles just dissappear in time then?.

Yes, you can wipe them off if you want I always do but the bubbles at the back were I can't reach always just dissolve

You decided what fish you are going to add @miggy ?

I remember killing my first taank population because of being too impatient to populate it. Time to let the water get to the right levels is essential.

My daughter likes clown fish m8 like Nemo so everything else must mix with this type of fish.

I have done the cold-water fish Rat and we like a bit of colour. We got bored with goldfish they didn't last very long in our old tank and all the water readings were perfect every time.

I live marine fish but Im too scared about getting water right

Those bubbles will dissipate miggy & if you've got any friends with a mature tank see if you can have some of there filter media to help cycle your tank

Be careful what fish you mix in. Some don't get along and some are just outright territorial bullies. I've given lots back to the shop. lol

I might leave it for a week before putting any fish in. On that picture m8 the filter looks huge and it is quite big. It only creates a very small ripple on top of the water though. Is this normal?.

I keep marine, have done for years now.

Do not put them in after a few days, they will be dead in no time.

The tank needs to cycle, it needs to go through the bacterial blooms and then settle.

you need 4 kits to start

PH, Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate.

Only until there is no trace of nitrite and ammonia (especially ammonia) and low levels of nitrate (some people would not want even nitrate), but I find personally a very low amount of nitrate for me is better than none.

Then you have phosphates, calcium, magnesium - depending on what you are doing these are also very important!

Do not get sucked into putting fish in mate to put smiles on little faces lol... it will end in tears!

Not had that kind of filter but with most filters you can adjust the flow on them.

Also if possible try to do a fishless cycle, you can use pure ammonia (i did that on my 2 tanks) or use fish food. Worth the wait then you have no worries about coming downstairs to dead fish.

best place to get goldfish from is the fair ......

they are the hardy survivors :)

Post up pictures as it goes. I always like to see peoples projects, no matter what the topic. Guess I'm a bit of a voyeur :)
