Hey all! Earlier today my sister grabbed my slate (HP tablet tc1100) and it came up with this, the screen mouse won't move. I've tapped the screen with the stylus to move the mouse. It won't let me choose the normal boot up when I first turn it on. If anyone knows how to fix this, please tell me

I'm not familiar with these but can you get into the BIOS? If you can then I'd suggest Windows is loading the wrong driver for some reason which might stop keyboard and mouse working at a later boot stage. If there is no mouse and keyboard at an early stage, like BIOS access, then I'd suspect a hardware fault.

The hardware fault might be a connector becoming unseated although I think the keyboard might plug directly onto the mainboard. Maybe they share a HMI controller chip which has something wrong with it.

The make is a hp tc1100 tablet. So it never uses a keyboard or mouse in the first place.

HP Compaq TC1100 - Wikipedia

If that is the same one then it can/could use an external keyboard.

If the touchscreen isn't reacting before Windows loads then I'd say it was a hardware fault :).

Is it over 11 years old? From that Wiki article they stopped making them in 2005. It looks like it is running a more recent OS.

I've had it for 5 years but it was second hand off eBay. So I don't know how old it is

Looking at this site:

Code:

It explains how to get into the system setup:

I don't know what the jog dial is but it seems to be a wheel/button on the top. If you click that just after power-on it should bring you to the BIOS menu, if the screen doesn't respond in there it is a hardware fault.

It worked, thank you

Let us know the outcome. Your tablet looks like it is running Win7 which might need reinstalling if it is totally knackered.

At least HMI is working :).
