Hi all,

i have hooked up my tm800hd receiver after couple of years of not using it. Got this image installed today TM800_update-Dd-tmsw-20121021 then moved on to select my sats for ports a/b/c/d which were previously set like that -

A. 4.8E Sirius
B. 13.0E Hotbird 6/8/9
C. 19.2E Astra 1H/1KR/1L/1M
D. 9.0E Eurobird 9

On this newer image there is no sirius to select but instead its 4.8E Astra 4A and it was for all of the sats i had before couple of years ago. anyway i selected previous sats that i wrote down and matched their elevations to the sats this new image have offered me then i went onto automatic scan and no channels were found, what could you lads advise me on how to solve this?

sorry for my language there might be some mistakes as English its not my mother tongue language.

Thanks
seminaki

The satellite names are the ones that are listed in the satellites.xml.

If you are using a file that is 4 years old, it is likely a lot of transponder details have changed. Download a new one.

are you suggesting me to install some other image ? i could manually update transponder details if i could find a source for those latest transponder details?

Thanks

You could just use a new satelite.xml that has the latest transponder to scan with

You can make one here

i got that new satellites.xml file generated i cant seem to find an option update via miniweb so i guess ill need to use FTB to get it updated, could you advise me directory to paste that file in?

cheers

cable seems to be fine, installed older image and same issue, it cant find any channels in autoscan mode or any other.. what to do?

Download a premade channel list, delete the channels you do not want, save, then transfer to receiver.

Vhannibals, Catseye, MaliMali do good sets of channels.

im not getting any signal after i have installed new image (more recent one) before that earlier i had the signal.. hmm it could be some part inside the receiver that got faulty or the cable but i checked the cable even cut it to get a fresh tip, but no luck..

Have you replaced the satellites.xml file on this "new" image?

When you scan/check signal, you are checking against the values in the satellites.xml file (Unless you use "user defined").

Thanks for help, i was replacing satellites.xml for last two images i had installed this evening and still no signal, but havent tried on this image that i installed half an hour ago...

short update: i chose predifened transponder for finding satellites and got signal of 78 % done manual scan and some channels were dected but mainly freeview ones, my lnbs might be off their alingments somehow or satellites.xml its not working properly on the receiver..

yep i done that and it only picked up signal of 19.2E Astra and 3 other were without signal, then i had a look for a signal - set to predifined transponder and signal was there for all 4 lnbs.. why does latest satellites.xml sat details not being read by the receiver to pick up signal of the sats? or is there some other problem..
As was suggested before, transfer a premade list.

Some transponders are dead.

Why are you searching for signal? You have transferred a premade chanenl list, surely you just select the channels.

Where are you located?
What size dish do you have?
Which transponders are you checking?

Possibilities for you to consider/test.....
Faulty diseqc switch
Faulty cabling
F-plugs loose.

Just to let you know, the TM800 would crash after scanning satellites if you run out of memory. There is so much rubbish on the receiver. There was a script to remove some files.

i havent transferred premade channel list i only got xml file overwriten on the receiver.

im living in Ireland and my dish size would be approximately 1 meter, my transponders were set before on one of the first tm800HD images as follows below:

A. 4.8E Sirius
B. 13.0E Hotbird 6/8/9
C. 19.2E Astra 1H/1KR/1L/1M
D. 9.0E Eurobird 9

i suppose a/b/c/d is mapped to each LNB and i wrote it down to keep correct layout of the transponders, i had this thought that if im right and its mapped to each LNB, what if there is an error on the image and for example port A is actually port B parameters to pick up transponder or does it not matter for those ports a/b/c/d to be mapped to each transponder?

You have preseneted a list of satellites. Each satellite has tranaponders. That list is only interrogated during scanning or checking in sat finder ( aprt from validating position/existence). For tuning purposes lamedb file is used, hence the advice to transfer a list.

Have you checked the footprint for 4.8E? Hopefully someone in your neck of the woods can confirm if you can get reception of 4.8E
Astra 4A at 4.8°E - LyngSat Maps

i havent transferred premade channel list i only got xml file overwriten on the receiver.

Thank you for clarifying.
