Hi all

I have the above TV, As usual about 2 months out of the 5 year warranty. :(

When I turn the TV on it takes time for screen to appear. before it was near instantanious, now it takes about 10 seconds for the picture to appear. Is my TV on the way out.

Thanks for looking

sounds like it but then tubes have a life expectancy of 5 years, anything else is a bonus

Sony will trade it in at the moment

Thanks for the reply

Not sure I want another sony now though, It is a good tv but I want A 42" Panny :)

By the way do you know what are they offering for a trade in and does the tv have to still work :)

Looks simular but that is not the one, mine is in a silver casing :)

I had ione simular it used to flash white and when the audio was too load and took ages starting up, i just gave it a big whack :grab: and it worked

I have not had to do that yet, but I am sure I will have to soon :proud:

Thanks for the reply

Panasonic will trade £100 off a new 42" plasma for your old sony. It dosent have to work to qualify. You should get a free 5 year guarantee if you buy from independants / panasonic stores

Thanks for your advice mate, however I am not sure I will get the cheapest price using independants or from the panny store. I have still seen places sell this TV for a grand whereas the cheapest place I have found was around £650 :), although I doubt this is with a 5 year warranty

have a look at richer sounds they are pretty cheap will price match and do a 5 year warrenty for 10% of the price. if you dont use the warrenty they give you the 10% back check here

The TXP42S20 is now £599 at john lewis with the 5 year guarantee. Get another shop to pricematch with the proper pana 5 year guarantee as the JL one is not that great

Thats what I was thinking, get the cheapest price for the panny g20 and then see if jl will price match :)
