patio door handles

does anybody know where i can get a set of these door handles

i got the doors fitted by safestyle and the cnuts say they are broken through wear and tear
and want to charge me £60 call out as well as £40+ for the handles

You could give my old workplace a ring - Cookson Hardware - they get them from a company called Hoppe and they do lots of different styles.

It's hard to tell but from the picture they look like gold annodised aluminium, which we used to sell for about £8 per set without euro cylinder. You can also get silver aluminium and a range of powder coated ones in various colours. A set of satin stainless steel one should set you back around £25.

As long as you get the right spacings for the fittings you dont need to buy the exact same handle.

That's not wear and tear. The cracks are propagating from the holes, probably due to poor casting. Metal fatigue. They should replace them free of charge.

Edit. Looking closer at the large hole where your hands go you can see the edge of the metal is quite rough. This item was made from sheet and the holes were punched in it. It was then bent to shape. This pretty much confirms my first post. Basically the holes are punched and not smoothed out. Because of this there are stresses in the material that after prolonged use will result in the cracking shown. If the doors are under guarantee suggest to them that they replace them as the cause of the crack is a fault that was there since manufacture.

Also strange that it has cracked both holes, maybe indicates a manufacturing fault

the actual cracks are worce on the inside handle and it isnt by the holes
it is to the side of the handle i have edited this pic to show you

so are the doors likely to be under some kind of structural guarantee with the house, like a homebond ten year guarantee, if not i doubt the company will take responsiblity at that age.

they are atill under gurentee just but i have a feeling they will come out and bullsh*t and say ware and tear so making me pay £100 +
i would rather pay and fit my self
only takes 2 mins
i may try and bull them saying because the gurentee is close to finishing send me a set out and i will fit them my self

whats the point in having a guarantee if they wont honor it, what is the guarantee for? i mean what are you meant to do, not use them, if they are guaranteed for 10 years, then surely its for ten years of use, regardless??????????????

That's a good idea, just get them to post them out to you and you fit them yourself. Are they likely to do that without charging you for them?
