Resolution
If you can't send or receive MMS content, try these troubleshooting steps:
1. Verify that you have met all of the system requirements for MMS, including installing any carrier-setting updates.
2. Try sending only a text message with no video, photos, or voice memos, or have the sender do the same to your full number, including area code.
If you cannot send or receive just a text message, verify that the sender is using the correct phone number. This should be the recipient's full phone number, including area code.
If you can send or receive just a text message, contact your carrier to confirm your wireless account is provisioned for MMS.
3. When using iOS 4 or later, verify that Cellular Data is on in Settings > General > Network.
4. Restart your iPhone.
Hold the power button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the power button to turn it back on.
5. Check with your carrier; there may be an outage or known issue with sending or receiving MMS content. They can also confirm your wireless account is provisioned for MMS.
6. Some carriers allow you to edit your APN (Access Point Name), which may cause MMS not to work. See this article for additional information.
7. If you are roaming outside your calling area, make sure you have Data Roaming turned on in Settings > General > Network to send or receive MMS content.
8. Reset your Wi-Fi and cellular network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: You will need to reenter any Wi-Fi network or APN settings after the reset.
9. If the issue persists and your wireless carrier has confirmed that your wireless account is provisioned for MMS, restore the iPhone.
Additional Information
To learn how to send MMS content, see the iPhone User Guide.
If you do not have 3G coverage (if you are using EDGE or GPRS), sending or receiving MMS content may take longer than you expected. Ask your carrier about 3G coverage in your area.
The Messages application does not support sending or receiving MMS content over Wi-Fi.
If you see a red exclamation mark next to an MMS message you sent, you can tap the exclamation mark to try sending the message again:
