Just entered a Triathlon on the 3rd October (I must be off my head as i now need to do lots of training to get fit)

Its consists of the following:

Swimming (200 Meter - 6 Lenths of the pool)
Bike ride (23km - 14 miles)
Run (2.5km - 1.6 miles)

I will be doing this for charity but have not really decided on where to send the money.

Im thinking either:

  1. Heart Foundation
  2. Help The hero's
  3. Cancer Research

Please help me decide and click on a poll option.

Will put something on here once i have sorted out how people can sponsor me i would be very greatful of any money donated as every penny helps to any charity.

Thanks

Ray

EDIT:

Here is a link to the event: Stratford Triathklon

Early next week you will be able to put my surname "Yule" in to the Enrty Checker. I regestered yesterday so shud be there by Tuesday due to the weekend.

voted cancer research
thanks Ray

They are all worthy charities but I voted for Cancer reasearch due to our DW member Maryjam who lost her fight against it.

When you decide I will sponsor you no probs.

Cancer Research.

How do I sponsor you?

Another one for cancer research mate, such a worthwhile cause.

ditto for the sponsor and good luck.

cancer research for me too ...

it affects us all .........

I've voted Cancer research too.

Personally though, I'd always rather support smaller charities, where it means so much more to them. I've supported tiny local projects where it makes a difference between surviving or extinction. My National charity is another small, mostly unknown name, called DebRA

Debra, they call them the butterfly children don't they? Because their skin is so fragile, it tears like a butterfly's wings.

I understand what your saying here and do agree with you. The only reason i have not done this is because i want to raise as much as possible and i believe if it was something local to me it would not appeal to others not living within my area.

I did think about the special baby unit at the hospital by me (Good Hope Hospital, Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham) but i think it would be better to sponsor something that everyone knows and may benifit from the money no matter what area you live.

Anyone know the best way for people to sponsor me?

Have been looking and most charge to accept money and sorry but i dont agree with people making or taking money away from a charity i am trying to raise money for.

Paypal charge 1.4% and 20p per transaction :Kickassro
JustGiving charges 5% on each donation plus £15 a month :Kickassro
Virgin Money Giving charges a flat £100 fee, plus 2% per donation :Kickassro
BMyCharity charges a flat £150 fee plus advertising revenue :Kickassro

Can i open a bank account and issue the sort code and account number and receive all the money people donate or does anyone know of another way???

Thanks

do paypal but tell people to choose top send as a gift as long as you do promise to put it into the charity. that way it is free via paypal!

Iv been looking at the just giving website Justgiving and that dont look that bad as they say they take the 5% from the gift aid so 99% of the time the charity still gets all the money if not a little more.

Also its safer for the person donating and easier for me too
