Seen this today dunno how its gonna work but paying for xbox live is bad enough.

I defo wont be paying for it...... paid enough for the games and new maps, cheeky gats :(

So, we'll need an Xbox Live account in the first instance, then if we want to play this game we'll need a further subscription?

Will Xbox Live subscribers get a discount?

Load of pish, I hope it fails.

This is to do with the Ubisoft/EA tackling the used games market ?

I doubt it'll fail because a lot of people will pay it all to play COD on Xbox. But it might push a few to PS3 because of free online. Or back to other COD games.

Can't say I'm in agreement with it though, it's pure greed. It would have to be them two aswell, the two companies that spam the market the most for the dollar what with COD and Guitar Hero. I don't blame them, but I don't like it either.

if they charge a montly fee does that mean we still got to pay the 40 pound for the game
or will it be free like wow

cause who wants the campainge mode it only last a few hours
most people buy c.o.d for the multiplayer mode

You're joking right ? ;)

From what I've heard it's a 1 time tenner fee (at least for EA, for second hand purchasers only) if i'm even on about the same thing.....but.....either way.....it's COD so you can bank on it that they'll charge you full whack at retail.

I can imagine a ton of people getting it on PC and playing online for free on cracked servers just like they do on WoW but it'll be just like EA to feck the PC version off totally.

No discount mate. The problem is not only the 2nd hand game market, game developers feel they are not getting a fair slice of the online pie, as MS setups the servers and maintains them, then collects the money.

EA//Ubisoft and others want a piece of this market, therefore are charging for the online part of the game. Have no-one else played Tiger 11 here? First thing it asks is for you to pay up for online, or take a weeks free trial. After that you have to pay the sub to the company to play online. TBH I think this is going to push people away from live completely.

Me thinks their merger with Blizzard has had some influence on this proposed business model.

Can't wait for "World of Duty". :)

its a rumour taken from 360 achievos Modern Warfare 2 Subscription Plan Rumours Are Bogus

Infinity Ward's Rob Bowling aka fourzerotwo put the rumours to rest on Twitter today (minutes ago in fact), writing, "Modern Warfare 2 subscription plan rumors going around. For the record, nobody has to pay to play COD or MW2 multiplayer, nor will they."

Treyarch's Josh Olin has also weighed in on the issue, declaring that Call of Duty:Black Ops will also introduce no such pay-to-play plans, stating on Twitter, "No, you will not have to 'Pay to Play' #CODBlackOps Multiplayer either. Rumor -> Squashed."

Well thats good news for now, although it is present in other games, and this is the future for online play.
