This will really be used for transfering films from the pc to laptop instead of using a usb stick or any other similar thing!
cheers
cheers
where will you be when you do the transfer ?
if at the same location as jaffa says cut and paste over the network. map a network drive and just use explorer
if at different locations but both on the net then you need something with file transfer as part of the app.
as your previous post ref remote control most of the apps suggested by myself and others have file transfer as part of the program.
In Win 7...go to network and sharing center, on left side click change advanced sharing settings, make sure file and printer sharing is on and then make sure password protected sharing is OFF (default on Win 7 is on), save that then try again.
ok cheers mate, i will try the programs then and see if i can transfer files easily with them!
i will be downstairs with the laptop while the pc is upstairs but on the same network!
i have tried doing it over the network but if i choose either the pc via the laptop and vice versa it asks for a password. i have tried the router password, tried the laptop password but cant try the pc password as it hasnt got one and it just keeps saying wrong password or username!
cheers
Thats your problem pal, you have to have a passworded account, put a password on the account (you can have it auto login if you want so you dont actually have to use it every time you start your PC) and then use this password on the remote computer.
;cheers sorted that, how do i do auto login?
ermm also how can i view all my files on my pc rather than just the shared, do i NEED one of them programs?
cheers
;
windows key+r, or start->run, type in 'control userpasswords2', OK, highlight user account, untick box at top, click APPLY, box pops up, enter the password and confirm, OK out, done
i want to view the pc files from the laptop but not the other way round so di i do that command on the pc or laptop?
cheers
thats how you enable autologon, so which ever machine you wanted to do that on, or am i getting confused and you want to get rid of the logon box when you connect to another PC, if thats the case then you should have an option to use other credentials when mapping and a check box to save.

You can view all the files if you map to a hidden share called C$
This will take you to the root of the C Drive.
You will need to map with an admin share to do it though.
e.g.
net use x: \\desktoppc\c$ <admin password> /u:administrator
cheers mate but i dont really understand where to put that command? Plus not really sure what it means
