A Shade Greener is a Renewable Electricity Generator that is utilising the Government initiated FIT Scheme, which commenced on 1st April this year, in order to install solar panel systems onto domestic properties in parts* of Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Humberside. We were initially looking for only 2000 homes, however due to huge demand we are now looking for at least 6000 homes.

How can we do this? We dont give the panels to the Homeowner, not initially (see FAQs). We simply install our panels on the Homeowners roof and let them use all the electricity that they generate for free, because under the FIT Scheme we will be paid a Generation Tariff for ALL the electricity that our panels generate whether that electricity is used, or not. This Tariff is guaranteed for 25 years. This means that we can let the Homeowner use this electricity entirely FREE OF CHARGE for 25 years too, as we will be paid for generating it.

Our own scheme is particularly suitable for people who want Solar PV, but who cant afford it, or for those who CAN afford it but would rather spend their money on another home improvement.

Re: Free Solar Panels in Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire & Humbe

Expect this

Thank you for your application for the use of free solar panels from A Shade Greener. Our surveyors have now looked at your roof on Google Earth and unfortunately they don’t think that it would suit any of our standard systems at the moment. This does not mean that there is anything wrong with your roof, neither does it mean that Solar PV would not work on your roof, neither does it mean that your roof is too small, it simply means that we cannot fit one of our standard systems. If we were selling Solar PV it wouldn't be an issue - we would be able to customise our systems and sell to anyone who would buy, but instead we are deriving our income from the electricity that our panels generate. Accordingly, our system has to be a certain size and must generate a minimum yield that will make them financially viable for us.

There are a number of issues that could have had an impact on their decision, which is never taken lightly - your roof could either be too far a degree east or west from south (we will not fit if the azimuth is outside the range of +30 or -30 degree off due South), it could be that the roof is split level, has dormer or velux windows that interrupt the space, does not have enough available space for our standard portrait or landscape arrays (and we do not do 'customised' installations), the dimensions could be unsuitable (for example we could not fit on a roof that is 15m x 2.2m, but we could fit on a roof that is 4.97m x 4.74m), or there could be shading issues from trees or other structures. We are sorry that we cannot give specific reasons, unfortunately there are so many applications we have to turn down each day we simply haven't the manpower to write a personal email to each applicant.

Once again, we are very sorry, but as we will be deriving our income from the electricity that these panels generate we need to ensure that they do operate at optimum levels and many of the factors we have mentioned above could severely reduce the efficacy of the panels.

If you're still interested in other forms of renewable energy for your property you can contact The Energy Saving Trust, which is a Government backed, free, impartial and expert advice service with local advisors who can;

- answer your questions on which technology may be suitable for your home,

- tell you how to access grants, and,

- put you in touch with local installers.

You can call them free on 0800 512012 to find out more.

Re: Free Solar Panels in Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire & Humbe

i got this today

Thank you for applying to see if your roof is suitable for our free Solar Panels. Our Surveyors have now viewed your property on Google Earth and we are pleased to say they think that it may be.

Someone will be contacting you to arrange for one of our Surveyors to visit your property, this is mainly to examine the pitch of the roof, to ascertain if there are any shading issues that weren't apparent on Google Earth and to answer any technical questions that you may have.

Following the survey, providing they still think that your roof is suitable, you will be given the opportunity to have our solar panels installed onto your roof at no cost to yourselves. You will then be able to use the electricity that the panels produce completely free of charge.

Due to huge demand we are now looking for 6000 roofs on which to fit our free solar panel systems over the next couple of years so please remember to tell your friends, family, neighbours and colleagues to check their homes on our website www.ashadegreener.co.uk so that they don’t miss out. Whilst we have already had many thousands of applications, our criteria is quite strict so we still have lots of systems left to allocate. We want to make this part of the UK the largest user of solar PV in the country

Kind Regards

They sent me the no email m8 saying my roof is not suitable!? more like they are trying to pull in paying customers offering the odd free install to keep in line with their promises.

Re: Free Solar Panels in Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire & Humbe

Ask them for their precise roof specifications.

I'm somewhat cynical.
