finished uni last month, and was debating what to do...decided and today paid for a years open return flight to sydney, going 18th sept! So excited, cant wait to get out there

Good choice, you may be able to pick up some casual work out there. Plenty to do, its a huge country. Don't forget the west side either.

Being an Aussie myself and living here for some years now, I would recommend W.A. Perth as mentioned above.

Sydney is cool but a little to expensive in my option so don't stop there to long, get yourself over to the west and you will never want to leave! The food, beaches, markets, Islands and the weather are beautiful. Plus you can get work easy enough.
The people are really cool too.
