What is cardsharing?

Watch a different channel.....

That's not bad then. If guy had gave his father in law a share and was watching 'red hot wives 40+' and his father in law knew what he was watching and was forced to view the same, that could be embarassing. :proud:

Excellent and very informative thread......always heard about c/s but dint really know what it was until now... thanks!!!

Isn't that usually the other way around lol

This is beautiful but one question is the hd, as long as said server is hd subbed then can i access my hd channels via my hd reciever in my holiday home ?

Hats off PH this is just the ticket

i been told that when you scan for channels. hd channel will only be picked up on hd box and not the 500s

ah yes but veering away from dream and lets say technomate hd im assuming hd will be a viable option from the OP it seems so, just wanted some confirmation.

why would anyone watch that soft sh#te ?

True lol, CS isn't the problem it's finding people willing to share. I definately don't condone paying those rip off merchants. Excellent post though!!

Yes, whatever the original card entitles you to watch, will clear.
So in this case yes, if you had access to a HD package and you used a HD receiver, it would work fine. If the original card did not have HD subscription included then no, you would not clear scrambled HD channels even with a high definition receiver.
Hope that helps to clarify. :)

hi could you please guide me through. what equipment do i required? where to start?
your help is highly appreciated. regards

I see this is dated 2008
Can C/S work on a Starview HD Combo cable box that has an ethernet connection on the box ? If so how ?
Or do I need to buy a satellite dish ?

thanks

You would still need a sat dish to c/s sat. How do you think you get sat television through your telly without a satellite dish?

Satellite company's dont put masses of cables under the ground as cable companies do. Hence its called satellite, and not cable(and the fact that you actually need a microwave dish(satellite dish))

I was hoping I could use the ethernet connection thru my broadband to C/S with a remote server ?

All the ethernet connection does is enable you to connect to a server. At the other side, the server has fooled the card in to thinking that all clients connected to it are paired to it. You've esentially got the viewing card now, and you'll need a sat dish in order to point at 28.2E(A sky minidish will do)

Think about it this way. You can order freesat cards from Sky at £20, but you cant view those channels without connecting to a satellite box/dish. Your card is connected to your receiver but with c/s, you've fooled the card in to thinking its connected to your receiver(All c/s is, is a longwinded way of fooling the official card to thinking its paired to a receiver)

Recently moved on from a Technomate 1500 to a DM800 and still have a long, long way to go in mastering the box, but found this post excellent in explaining CS.
Thanks pinkhelmets for this.

Best wishes from,

Gibson.

1st off mate better to introduce yourself in the introduction section and second id remove your email addy and just ask people to send you a pm

I have heard a few things about nlines has anyone else and do you have any tips on how to set them up? I have heard you need to trust the person that you will do this as it gives them much more access to your share but thats about as much i have been able to find out so far.
