TomTom 7 on PDA - Instructions

Aye, I have done that.....

I have hacked into my Blaupunkt Lucca 3.4 which runs Windows CE 5.0.

I think there maybe an issue with the OS as its not WM. So may never work

does anyone know where you can find the release date for v675 maps for Navigator 6 and the release dates for Navigotor 7 maps?

I ask becuase I'm travelling to US, so want to use the most up to date maps, not some 12+ month out of date maps that get me lost in cities!!

cheers.

Im also having problems installing tomtom navigator 7.45, using UK and ireland maps 7.20 on my Samsung omnia i900 (windows 6.1).

I couldnt find any of the files mentioned in the first thread in the maps folder.

I have intalled the software and I get the message no maps found.

Any help would be appreciated

have you put the map in the SD card mate? total size is about 120megs.

Could you let me kown the fix for Map Not Found - even though the map is on the SD card. I remember that there was a registry hack to for TT to search the SD.

Thanks.

Ive tried putting the europe maps (2gig) and the uk maps (180mb) onto the phone storage but Tomtom still cant locate them. Do they have to be in a specific folder?

OK guys I dont see this anywhere in the forums so decided to write one up. I've finally managed to install tomtom 7 on my pda (mda compact3).
So here goes:

1) Find the device ID of your PDA.
To do this you will need tomtom home from HERE

Install then connect your pda usig active sync.
It will recognise your device and after strting up, see the pictures below where you have to click.

2) Download TTN7.450.9028_repack.cab from somewhere (usual places, just search in google and you will find)

3) Download MAP. I got this one United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_v720.1802.

4) In the map folder you will find loads of files, we want the 3 files that end with META, PNA and DCT. Copy them to a another folder called "insert_meta_from_Map_here". <--- yes thats the name of the folder.

5) Go one step up from the folder you should have 4 files and one folder. the 4 files ar called:

DeviceID.txt
RunMeforDCT.bat
tt7_keygen.exe
meta.txt

and the folder is called:

insert_meta_from_Map_here

In the DeviceID.txt just copy and paste your device ID.
double click on RunmeForDCT.bat > select Option 1 > Follow instructions.
Once it has completed, go into the "insert_meta_from_Map_here" folder and copy the new META, PNA and DCT files into your map folder and replace them. > Your map is now ready.

Put the TTN7.450.9028_repack.cab into the storage card of your PDA and run it. it will install tomtom on your PDA. > copy map onto the storage card.
Run tomtom and off you go!

Any problems let me know guys hope this helps and hope i been clear.

any idea how to install this with no usb cable on a mio 168
cheers

Did you (or anyone else) manage to install TT7 onto your Mio without using USB?

I plan to do this soon, and would be grateful for any words of wisdom.

If I don't get any, I will report my own experiences back here in due course...

how you mean without usb mate? you mean through bluetooth or infra red? be very difficult. but through card reader? should be fine, thats how i did it on my pda. the transfer rate is really slow through usb when you are transferring the map.

oops posted from missuses account lol

Adele -Thanks for the reply.

My Mio 168 (like a lot of others) has a knackered power/signals connector, meaning that the only choice is infra red if active sync is needed (no Bluetooth on a 168). Tomtom home doesn't seem to support IR.

Installation from the SD card is the logical way. The devil666x instructions in this thread seem to be using active sync just to run TT home & transfer files to the PDA. Since I can't do that I plan to manipulate the files on my PC and do it all from the SD card. I was hoping to hear from someone who has installed this way.

there is a way to find the device code without using tomtom home mate. it was posted here and i saw it the other day just cant find it. im still looking will post when i find it.

its somewhere in the tomtom files after you have installed it.

Thanks Devil666x.

I am already running TT6, and I can find the device ID if I poke around. If this is the only reason I need to follow the active sync/TT home instructions, then I should be ok!

I am happy with TT6, but it seems that the only way to be able to load maps which are not so far out of date is to change to TT7 - unless someone can tell me otherwise?

yeah thats the only reason you needed active sync mate.

just out of curiosity, how do you find the device code without using tomtom home and active sync?

im using tomtom 6 now with the old version 6 map. i liked tomtom 7 but i didnt like the new map. honestly, i prefer the old map to the new one. the new one has got me lost a few times and has LOADS of mistakes which the old one doesnt have.

Devil666x -Just for you! (Or perhaps it should be a sticky?)

To find your device id:

Open TT. Click In the lower right corner above the satellite signal 'bars'.

Then in the same area, you will see the Version number - click this. (P.S -This version number 'box' also shows if you have already set a route to navigate).

On the line above where it says www.tomtom.comTomTom, you will see 2 sets of 5 letters / numbers - that is your device id.

Easy, innit!

Thanks for the warning about TT7. I still think I would like to give it and its maps a try. I can always drop back to 6 if the maps are no better.

Happy returns to GMT

Viridens

Thanks for that. Really bloody useful m8. Cheers
