to be picky and ultra fussy, you stated that if its made of metal and worn about the body - then its jewllery.

Braces are made of metal and are definitely worn on the body (the gob). But they are nto jewllery.

The point is, in my opinion a cross isnt a peice of jewllery, its a symbol of someones faith.

Now, you can try and mire the whole thread in an argument on semantics if you want, but there really is no point, is there? Bronto actually got it right when he said that this should never of gone to court.

No I said if it was made of metal and worn around the body it was jewellery replying to your post. You assumed (being kind) I was referring to all items but I clearly answered your post of "crosses arent jewelley".

Trying to trip me up by taking the piss wont wash Im afraid.

It might well be a symbol of faith but its still a piece of jewellery. A bible/koran/whatever is still a book.

Why couldnt she carry the bloody thing in her pocket?

if you ask me its just people taking the piss as they know this muppet country will bend over backwards and get shafted to the max just so as not to upset anybody

what if all the aethists got together and said their human rights were being ignored as they were having so many religious festivals forced upon them? would anyone give a toss? no, why? cos people ho dont really care for religion are able to use common sense without their judgement being clouded by thousands of years of storytelling and riddles, or have 'rights' that may be offended by the littlest daft thing

if shes making this much fuss over a bracelet at 14 years old then shes going to be one of those annoying activist muppets for the rest of her life, only fighting a cause cos she can, never mind the cost to others

guys you will love this, this is how screwed my mind is.

could i carry a broad sword, listen, it is is in the shape of a cross and was used in the crusades and the weapon of choice, which was a holy war on behalf of the Christian god therefore an item of divinity.

No because it is a Christian symbol. The English government wouldnt allow that.

Reading the news report Im actually quite encouraged by this as it quotes a recent case where a muslim teacher refused to remove her veil when male teachers were present. The teacher lost her case.

The veil was described by Tony Blair as seperatist. Maybe we are starting to get the balance between tolerance and piss taking right.

as long as

A) its not on a gold chain (or silver) round your neck

and

B) its for your religion and without it your existence upon thie mere rock would be totally worthless

and

C) its got nothing to do with christianity

then yes, go ahead

but swords are illegal in the UK..... Dangerous weapons.

That is unless your a scot, then you can parade about on a friday night in a kilt with a knife tucked in your sock...

lol, havent we been here before m8?

wot about white van man lol

to be fair, you didnt say worn around the body. You said worn about the body. And yeah, I still stand by my opinion that a cross isnt jewllery - in the same way I dont see this sikh bangle as a peice of jewllery.

End of.

No, its not end of. Whether I said this or that I was referring solely to the cross and you know that. Both the cross and the bangle are jewellery as well a being symbols of faith.

End of.

and the rules of the school are no jewelry, yet knowing this she wasted thousands of tax payers money, which means cuts in the education budget for the school as well, just so one kid could break the rules

my kids like to be naked (i blame their mum lol) but the school rules state that they cant go to school naked. should i sue their school? no, as my common sense says that the school rules are different from what happens at home

fukin countrys a mess, as soon as i win the lottery im jumping ship and leaving the loonys get on with it

One of the great things about our country is that you are free to express your beliefs as long as you are not hurting anyone. The school rule infringed on that and as the school rule is lower down the pecking order than the freedom of religious expression it lost so I can see why she won.

Unfortunately this shouldnt have happened because religion should be kept out of schools just like it is in France.

yeah, the Kiplan - there was a report on that as well in the news recently. Apparently it isnt treated as a dangerous weapon. So in the eyes of the law, a kiplan isnt actually a knife.

If I recall, there are a few sikhs on here that explained it last time.

The kiplan isnt a knife in the legal sense, and in my opinion the cross and this bangle are not jewllery.

End of.

The Kirplan is a knife and a religious symbol.

Bangles and crosses in this context are Jewellery and religious symbols. The same way my gold United badge is jewellery and a football club symbol.

You seem to have difficulty grasping the concept that most items fall into more than one category.

End of.

where are you going to go?

Good point. These religious fookers are all over. I wish they would all grow up and stop putting their blind faith in something that doesnt exist.
