Hi guys, i have been offered a white 40gb japanese ps3 for £180 what do you guys reckon? Should I go for it?

Thanks

I wouldn't :)

Not until there is a hack. ;)

Also, so far there are no games that warrant purchase of a PS3 - hopefully some of the PS3 exclusives will be amazing and I'll return to my old friend SONY.

I pray for that day, I want to see the 7 cores and GPU kick butt.

If you want a good quality cheap Blu-Ray player then it's a must buy.

what site did you see the ps3 on and have you got one since

Paid £300 for a 40gb UK version so at 180 it was a steal, pity you missed it as not being a games player but now having seen what the PS3 can do it's worth it just for the blu-ray player and media playing capabilities.

hiya guys, got another one lol!

£225 - 60gb ps3

Fan Cooler
One Controller
Metal Gear Solid 4
Battle Fantasia
4gb Memory Card

Sounds good, should I go for it?

Thanks

yes, this is a very good buy. The 60gb ones are backwards compatible with the PS2 - plus you are getting MGS4 the best game available for any console right now.

if its a pal console. i would jump at this

if its not a pal console, then i wouldnt touch it. u cant play your pal ps2 games on a foreign console. so u got no benefit form owning a 60gb ps3

oh its a usa model.... so u still think i shouldnt buy it?? i was going to buy a usa ps3 anyway....

thanks

Just means you have to keep buying usa games for the mo till they find a region hack, or any hack come to that lol, up to you, maybe its cheaper to buy games from the states the way the pound is against the dollar, I would check that out first

ps3 games are region free, so there is no issue with buying uk games to play on a usa console. the issue comes when u try to play ps2 games and some bluray movies(not all movies are region free), only usa ps2 games will work on a usa ps3.

why have u planned to buy a usa one??? unless u have a large collection of usa ps2 games???

lol im going on holiday to the usa soon so i thought it would be the cheapest way.... should i just stick with buying a 40gb one in the usa?? or maybe an 80gb?

thanks

just one more thing, will i need any power converters to use a us console in the uk? Will it be safe to use in the uk?

I just want to check whether it is worth a 100 pound difference.

Thanks a lot!

they use a kettle lead I think, same as the PSP.

I could very likely be wrong about this, so please someone confirm

so is it physically safe? and do i need to buy any transformer or anything?

thanks

Right did some reading a normal kettle lead will be safe as long as it has a 5A fuse in it. The PS3 psu is universal and can take either 110v or 240v, so it should be safe to do

right, thanks for that research! so i think ill go ahead then! yay!! unless anyone has anything else i should know...

Thanks a lot!!

if you are set on getting a ps3 from the usa, then i would go for 40gb one. the 80gb has backwards compatibility for ps2 games, but only american games, uk ps2 games wont play.

if you are bringing it back, make sure you dont get hit by an import tax, it could end up costing u alot more than u think.

personnaly, i would just buy the 80gb ps3 in august when its released.
