Mortgage advice

Hi All,

I have a flat & mortgage with my ex. The flat was sold but the sale fell through due to the buyers house not attracting much interest or something like that. I'm now stuck paying half a mortgage for somewhere I don't live - for a few months now! Does anyone have any advice on what else can be done to get shot of flat / mortgage / her (legally )?¿? ex is un-reasonable at most lol

also is anyone clued up about the current mortgage situation? i.e. whats the max banks/mortgage companies are giving out TIMES salary? best deals? etc

If I wasn't living there and my ex was I personally wouldn't pay a dime unless there are kids envoled

Thanks for the reply mate - No kids (thank god!) but I don't want to ruin chances of getting a mortgage in future if she stops paying (if I stop contributing)

That was the original plan - I wanted nothing, just to be free of mortgage. She took all the required steps to take over my share then said 'fook it , I'm too young to be paying out all this money out myself!' pain in the ass so she is! wouldn't be in this mess if she had just took it over in her own name I'm in the middle of something so don't know if me buying her out is an option *yet*, especially as she will insist on me giving her money too (equity - yes this is one nasty bit*h considering I was giving up my share in equity) just a shitty situ tbh

Get it valued,flats etc have taken the biggest hit with negative equity,tell her she wont be getting any share cos of this.
Look at the possibiliy of renting it out and get it in your name,it'll be a few years before things turn.

Know how you feel mate been there myself the thing we did was work out how much the mortgage redemption, solicitor, and the Estate Agents will cost you then you know thats the price you can go down to, then you can put it up just over that price, and see what you get.

What a dilemna to be in - Its a tough one with the way the market is at the moment!!

Its difficult to get a buyer because the lenders will only lend now to rock solid customers earning shitloads of money and with a great credit history - so that narrows your options for selling up!! Also the prices are dropping by the day so you might end up in negative equity!!

I would suggest talking to the lender and seeing what they come up with. They may let you convert the mortgage to interest only at least saving you a few quid in the meantime!!

Its a tough one really - you could in theory pay your half for months or years and if the ex doesnt pay you could still get repossessed and lose the lot!!

What you said about her wanting some of the equity even though you were willing to give up your share for her - thats a joke - I would be tempted to call her bluff and say you are willing to not pay and let it get snatched back. She might change her mind and take over the mortgage alone if shes that greedy and thinks she will be left with nothing if she doesnt!!!

Get a good solicitor too!!
