You know the pre check beep a computer does on start up !

Well mine has gone from instant , to about 30 seconds .

Can anyone shed any light on why this is ?

Thanks in advance Stu ..........

does sound a bit odd, is the computer still loading up after the beep or just stopping.
found this site about computer beeps and what they mean. might be worth checking out mate

Everything is running fine , justs takes a long time for that initial beep !

I have had a look on similar sites regarding bleeps , but found nothing about the length of time it takes , for it to happen !

They just say what the sounds mean !

Might be that the bios is having problems detecting something that's developing a problem on the PC. Usualy a drive. Also maybe change out that cmos battery if it's an old one, they are often overlooked as they can go on & on for years.

Its okay now !
I took it apart , and put it back together again .
now it bleeps virtually straight away ,must have been a dodgy connection somewhere !

Thanks anyway for you sugestions .
Stu ...

I was thinking a hardware problem causing long detection times. Quite often a drive but sounds like you've cracked it and was just a loose connection.
