I must say the company I work for have an amazing package in place. We work 4 days on (2 12 hour days and 2 12 hour nights). We only have to do 160 shifts a year then we can have the rest of the year off on full pay.

Here is how it works, we work 4 from 8, every day we do overtime we do not get paid for it, it adds up to one of our 160 shifts. So if we get 160 shifts out by say the end of August we can have the rest of the year off on full pay, how awesome is that? Or we can work any extra shifts we want and get paid again, so in reality we are getting double time if we work overtime.

Imagine finishing in August and naffing off around the world sightseeing and getting paid at the end of the every month for it? Well that could be possible with this company, fooking awesome package!!

Pay aint bad either, I am on the lowest of £17,500 a year, but most are on the mid 20's within a couple of years service for them, once you get your grades for the extrusion machines etc. Add on any overtime and you coining it in towards the end of the year.

Nice one mate - Glad to hear something came up for you in the end......See if you can get your shifts in by May/June :proud: Then have the summer off - Go back in October for the overtime

Aye but do they run a good limousine service

Thanks mate, this job could be a God send.

Also if you wanted you could 'buy' the overtime shifts, basically if you are 20 shifts ahead come match or something you could ask them to pay you 5 of them on your next months pay and keep 15 back for later, so all in all you can get the cash whenever you want.

Also if you work all year with loads of overtime and do not cash any extra shifts in or take them in holidays they roll over to the next year, so in theory you could work say 6 days a week for a year and technically have the next full year off on full pay!!!

This is 100% true, it has got me gobsmacked. I still can't get my head around it, lol.

Work one yearwith overtime, "Here have the next year off son for being a good lad and we will pay you your current monthly pay."

I'll buy that for a dollar!!!

FECK !!.... you could have more days off then Santa !! lol

Sounds intriguing... So how does the employer deal with the situation when somebody buggers off for 6 or 12 months...? They must have to recruit again, no? Even though they're already somebody to do the job...?

Does anybody actually take up this offer...?

Me father in law works the same shifts and he loves it(well used to he retired wednesday gone) he worked for a bread factory at the team valley.

Glad you got fixed up m8! That's the main thing.

Although I wouldn't get too excited about it. I've worked them shifts before ;).

It sounds better than it actually is :)

But it gets you off the dole, and back on track.

Hope you enjoy it m8

can i have your job!!!!!!!

sorry for hijacking the thread

i had the oppertunity of a transfer to there main plant in brum but decided against it. more money was on the table but it would work out at 2 hrs drive to and from brum and it would not be as much difference after tax and insurance.

since we got took over(bought out) we the workers at the firm have been treated like shite.
why did they not pay the same rate as they do at there main plant/ the union has been inefective im on less money than the agency workers they hire even though i/we have the experience of the jobs.

totally fobbed off at the way i and majority have been treated since the take over cant wait for the redundancy cheque in a few weeks time.
