those with good memories will remember all the trouble i had with my people carrier. i bought it 3 years old for 5 grand, 7 months later the troubles started. after spending 4 grand total on repairs in the local daewoo center i took it to the daewoo specialists in cardiff. after connecting to numerous computers they told me it needed new wiring loom and ECU, at over another 2 grand, it wasnt worth repairing.

its been sat outside, in mint condition, for nearly a year, and yesterday i sold it off for 200 quid just to get rid of it

GUESS WHATS PARKED OUTSIDE MY FOOKIN HOUSE, WITH A NEW EXHAUST PIPE AND RUNNING LIKE A DREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!

yep, my fookin car.

looks like the lovely little twats who live near me thought itd be fun to shove something up the exhaust a few days after i got it back from the garage last year, but id had enough of spending on it, but im fookin fuming with the garage in cardiff, all them tests, the HUGE quote for what was needed, and they were my 2nd opinion, and its now running fine with a new back box on the exhaust

i really really do give up, ive had such a fukin tit full of cars and vans it makes me sick

this morning its done 150 miles, and the guys had 110 out of it on the dual carriageway

im gutted, im more than gutted, im furious, i feel like going out and knifing the neighbours non stop barking dog

2 grand for a new backbox???????
That'll be the Daewoo!!!!!

Sorry m8, you'd think the main dealer would have found the fault.
I bet they charged an arm and a leg just for telling you the wrong diagnosis too.

How come it's back outside your house??
Did they bring it back to rub your nose in it??

Curly

hey digi how u getin on wiv the astra combi van have u sorted that yet?? u dont ave much luck wiv motors m8 lol:Clap:

I would of thought if the back box was blocked you would of been able to hear that yourself m8 ! I mean the thing would be screaming high pressure noise from the tailpipe (bit like a tyre pump noise so i would of thought any garage worth a shit would notice that?

Mind you these days i do wonder if any of the youngsters have any common sense sometimes. COMPUTER SAYS NOOOO comes to mind.

i spent 2 years being told 'this sensor needs replacing' that sensor needs replacing' the flux capacitor needs re ioniosing' the fookin lambada is out of step' the doobrie whatsit aint thingying properly etc etc etc

i know more about quantam mechanics, radioactive isotopes and rocket science than i do about engines, especially now everythings computerised

but id spent so much on the car that eventually you have to call it a day, i needed a MPV/van for work, it had let me down so much, and cost me so much in both outlay and lost work that i gave up on it, 4 grand in 2 years, then to be told as a 2nd opinion that it needed another approx 2 grands worth of work doing to it, would you have kept spending?

I can understand you there m8, but (being a machanic for many years) it still stands as to why nobody in that time thought to check the exhaust flow or heard the exhaust tone and sussed it ? Just goes to show you that most of the new age mechanics don't know much about the fundamentals of propulsion & just rely on their computer to do all the work.. (not all of them i hasten to add)

but there must have been other problems is the computer showed those !!!

What a bunch of pricks m8 !! i would of got the blokes name and gone down there and decked the fucker if he talked to me like that on the phone, Did you get any joy out of them for the money lost ???

You might wanna be bringing something up with your neighbours for criminal damage

My bro in law had a similar problem with and astra, it kept cutting out ect, he spent loads trying to solve it, turned out the cat had collapsed and the debry swept to the rear box and blocked the fooker, the garage didnt find it though but they did charge for computer tests coils plugs dzzy caps carbs everything but the foooken fault.

Makes you wonder if these guy's are actually trainned any more or if they rely solely on what a computer says.

Computer says no.....

Fooken muppets

Not really mate, lambda sensor is in exhaust so would of shown as faulty with a blocked or part blocked exhaust... O2 sensors would of had wrong reading etc... So computer would of shown what it could see as wrong, although the right diagnosis in the computers programing etc... they would of all added up to blocked exhaust...

Id of checked the exhaust as a matter of course... although alot of places wouldnt i imagine.
