Amazon sell things from their warehouse, but they also sell things on behalf of other sellers. These items do say sold by such and such.

17th July??

Are you sure mate, that's like a couple of bloody weeks.

They should reply within a few days, something going on here...!

I have had disputes on Amazon, they havent taken that long but they do take longer than Ebay. I would assume it is to do with the fact they need to contact the seller on your behalf and take a look at what has gone on.

I do not deal with Amazon any more, I am fed up with any items I want are form other sellers and added postage. They are always going on about the free postage but most of the good deals are with other sellers.

One thing about amazon is they do treat they customers fine so don't worry allroad mate you will be okay be it that it might take time!

Amazon are one of the best in my opinion!

I think anything posted royal mail you have to give them 3 weeks until you can make a claim

This item from amazon for example is sold by a 3rd party (Fun 4 Pets)

and this for example is sold from amazon (Availability: In stock. Dispatched from and sold by Amazon.co.uk.)

Mate at work got caught out with something from play.com which he thought was brand new but turned out 2nd hand only to be sold from a 3rd party - play trade

I've never had any problems with Amazon and always found their customer service top notch for such a large company but to be fair, anything that isn't sold by Amazon, they can only do so much. I think it's fair enough they told you to give them some time for the item to arrive in case it's just genuinely delayed.

I bought a camera from amazon last November. The lcd somehow got a shadow on when using the zoom and this was still on when viewing the pics.

Amazons automatic email response (received 2 days later) referred me to fault finders and if no help then to contact the manufacturer and take the matter up with them.

I was told that they have sofware that picks out words when you contact them and the software decides from those words if your a soft touch that will be fobbed offf to claim on the manufacturers warranty.

Sent another email making sure I mentioned Sale of Goods Act, Contract with Amazon, Refund or Replacement and Court Proceedings.

Low and behold received email within one hour advising that a replacement was being sent same day by first class post and details of how to return the fauly item and get my postage cost refunded. (Bloody amazing what a difference certain words made)

i think amazon work in the same way as a magazine that carries adverts! thay have to give the seller the time specified for delivery and then give the buyer & seller the opportunity to resolve before they can act! when that fails they then have an obligation to resolve the matter for the buyer.

I also bought a camera from Amazon about a year ago, the lens wouldnt pop out of the housing when you turned it on (made a good effort to though) so it needed replaced. However, I just sent a normaly message back to get it replaced and it was done by the end of the week.

There is a common myth that companies use some 'evil software' to pick out keywords from emails. Its all guff. The inbound emails for customer services need to get processed very quickly by humans - anyone who has ever worked in a call center will know this. There is no scanning to see if you are a soft touch, it largely depends on how many emails the company has coming in at once, how many they want their staff to process each day and how backed up all the other departments are.
