hi all any one have any info on makeing your own dual wan router im sure ive seen it on the forum before thanks in advance all

Cheapest way is with an old PC and one of the many versions of linux specifically set up to act as a router. It takes a little setting up but once you've got it working chances are it will outperform commercial dual-wan routers costing over £500. Something like an old celeron 500 is perfectly adequate for the job and these machines can usully be aquired for less than £20

i had a go with wingate some time ago but found it to be a wast of time

The old pc/linux solution is IMO a bit long winded and just think of the extra electricity it uses (not to mention it's as ugly as sin).

Personally I'd look for one of those Single WAN routers that can be hacked with Linux and you can force one of the LAN ports to act as a second WAN. Cheap, tidy Dual WAN that doesn't cost the earth to run.

ugly as sin have you been looking at your pic lol my p4 is a nice pc i just dont use it now as i have a new one and the electricity will not be much i don,t think mate as it will just be the base runing and its the i did that factor lol for me but nice idea mate

Totally agree about the 'i did it' factor, it can't be beaten! :)

But a nice little hacked router is much more neat and I'm sure you'll agree that it'll use considerably less power that a 300w PSU powering a motherboard etc :)

Personally I use Wingate coz I'm a tight Scot ;)
