...tier info.Hi mods... I would like to ask info and help aiding me in this...Would that be ok? Thanks

I would suggest that you can ask stuff in very general terms but nothing provider specific.

Hi
This is gonna make life hard LOL
Might i make a suggestion
How about a smiley for each 1
or a uppercase no. say 3 times
1 other way is the main package tier no.s

The answer to the OP's question is really no as the tier info is provider specific.
This is not a great return of the cable section in my opinion. A large number of questions will only be asked and answerable through pm's unfortunately.

I'm not having a dig at admin/mods for being careful, just thinking that in its' present form it could take quite a few posts before inevitably someone says' pm me your provider, the thread is then lost on everyone else.

It has always been a case on this forum where we can help another member when they supply all the relevant information, such as provider and type of box. Even some boxes are provider specific.

Sadly, this section will probably never be the same again. I doubt we will ever have the wealth of information we once had at our fingertips.

Times change, things move on !

There was very little left to discuss in the cable arena anyway - I reckon most subjects had been done to death several times over. If you still need it then pretty much all the information is still available out on the net somewhere - it just takes a little more work to get what you want rather than having everything handed over on a plate.

Firstly, sorry for taking my time in replying but it couldn't be helped, things went a bit mad round here.

Thanks for the offer mapman, I will pm you in the week if that is ok m8?

I understand why the owners of this site are being careful with whats gone on recently.

I wonder if a lot of the people moaning would put there neck on the chopping block if it was their site...I doubt it.

Never noticed this reply before nozzer.
Are you insinuating that I need something handed to me on a plate? Early days probably. Latter days no way.
There is still plenty happening on the cable scene and probably will be for quite some time. Some of the wealth of information that has been lost on this site was supplied by me as regards the repair of certain equipment.

I was quite polite in my previous post regarding the cable section on this forum. I stand by what I say and will even go further as to say it is a joke. There are too many posts which I struggle to understand because of the excessive and unnecessary use of *****'s and too many queries handled by pms'

I visit this forum through loyalty but for cable related posts I would rather go elsewhere now. There is no point in having a semi-cable section where peeps are frightened to ask the simplest of questions and frightened to type words such as Virgin or NTL, Telewest and Ex-cw.

I may get my first ban from here but I doubt that either me or the owner of this forum will be took to court for my outrageous use of trade names in the previous paragraph.

@ Chookey. Whilst I can't speak for nozzer, I didn't read his post as a dig at you m8, more a generalization of the current situation. No-one doubts your contribution to this forum imo m8!

I understand your point though.

I wasn't insinuating anything about anybody in particular - just stating a general observation that the cable scene has effectively become far too easy and I think its actually a good thing that people now have to spend some time searching around (and hopefully learning at the same time).

I personally wouldn't of brought it back at all but thats not my decision. Now that it is back its down to members to either make it into something useful (whilst working within the present limitations) or not as they please. The decision to remove the previous section was not taken lightly but after a great deal of discussion it was decided that the old cable sections could not continue to exist in there old form for legal reasons.

We tend not to ban people for expressing an opinion on this forum (except for extreme cases of racism etc). As for the trade names thing, thats not really relevant to the changes that had to be made to the cable forum. Some of the information that had appeared in the cable forums was such that the site admin could of potentially been held liable for its continued dissemination which was simply unacceptable.
