The card reader in my laptop is playing up the first card i insert in the computer is seen as SD/MMC (G) but if i remove it and put it back in or another one in its place the computer pings 3 times and the card does not show in my computer as a anything restarting the computer repeats this.
The task bar shows the safely remove hardware icon

It could be a hardware fault. Is the laptop still in warranty?

If so back up all your data (image the disk if you can) and send it off to see if it can be repaired. The reason you should back up is that if the repair engineer has to replace or format the hard drive to get the problem sorted they will.

If its no longer in warranty, backup your data and reinstall windows. That should rule out a corrupt driver.

Hi little pob as the laptop is my only computer I took the 2nd option but it hasn't helped the first time i insert a card it is read ok when i remove it even if i choose to stop it with the safe to remove hard ware it makes a disengage sound but if i then replace it or put a different card in it seems to register and unregister really quickly so it would appear to me to be a hard ware problem so i will have to put up with this until i replace it with a medion akoya laptop later on this year
