I just tried it and it certainly makes the video alot clearer but not HD as in "high definition" but certainly higher definition than the original video.

I must admit comes in handy when you wanna watch beyonce clips of her shaking ase lol nice post i didnt know you could upscale are what ever it is it helps

Nice one.

It is not HD, or anythign near it, but it is much clearer (read less pixellation), and on the clips I have tested it on, black bars disspaeared too, so I assume fmt = format, and 18 is like a css/javascript (?) code for differing resolution.

I presume changing the number will output different resoltuions.

Nice find.

dont want to p*ss on your chips but the link to watch them in high qualityis already on a youtube page..

Directly under where it says views

There is a tab called Watch in high quality

tried on my ie7 and the ie6...

Oh yeah see it now, must be for certain videos then..........cheers m8 :proud:

Sometimes that option where you are able to select 'high quality' isn't available.

Firstly, Youtube doesn't have the High Def option, but instead by adding the following code to the end of the URL, it is actually the MP4 version of the video.

Youtube also has a flash version that presents high quality videos as well. All you have to do is add the following code to watch the video in the flash version.

Yeah it depends on what resolution the uploader of the video has recorded at. It only works on videos that were uploaded at sizes of 640x480 or larger. (if they uploaded a 320x240 video, you cant get a better quality version obv.)
Check out this example [ame="http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=0Scpqj46Amc"]here[/ame] .
The video is animated so the differences are much more apparent than trying to compare a "live" video.
