I'm trying to set up push email at work for a couple of PDA's but we are currently hosting OWA on port 8000.
On the mobile we are putting in the server address as http://externalwebaddress:8000 also tried externalwebaddress:8000 but get a connection error.
Should this be able to work ?

Is OWA the correct server type for push email from Exchange?

There are a host of other settings that need to be entered if memory serves. What is the error message you are getting?

I've followed through instructions on how to set up the server and all looks to be correct there. On the PDA it asks for the server address and says that it is usually the same as the OWA address. The only thing I can think off is that it is running on port 8000 and not standard port.

I'm not in front of PDA at the moment to get full error message but I beleive it said that it was unable to communicate with server.

OK, this sounds a little better. When you do have the PDA, can you browse the internet on it? Can you even get to the weboage for OWA on it?

PDA can connect to internet.

When accessing OWA it asks for Username and password for what appears to be every image that is being downloaded to create that page.

When trying with ActiveSync the error message just says 'Server cannot be reached, check your server address'

do you use the 8000 port number when connecting via the browser?

Yes when in Internet Explorer on the PDA I used http://externalOWAaddress:8000 which asks me to log in and then appears to load one image at a time asking for password each time. If I access OWA from a normal PC web page comes up entirely once logged in.

thanks
Simon

when trying to use push email on the PDA, are you putting the server address in with the port number? If you are, have you checked to see if the port number needs to be set elsewhere?

yes I'm putting in the externalOWAaddress:8000 , I cannot find anywhere else to put the port address in.

Depending on the PDA is may have 2 options -

1 for normal which will use port 80
1 for secure which will use port 443

I would suggest you use secure/port 443

Done a few modifications to our system so that we could use OWA on port 80 and now the Push email works fine on a couple of our PDA's using emoze software but we cannot get our new HTC Touch to work with the built in Windows Mobile 6. As before this device says 'Server cannot be reached, check your server address'

Once we connected via the internet to OWA and logged on and then closed IE the push email burst into life and is still happily getting the push emails !?

Thanks for all your help guys....
