Avram Grant Sacked !!

bbc website

gossip in the papers is

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and former coach Jose Mourinho have shared three "cosy chats" in the last six weeks, but Frank Rijkaard remains favourite to replace Avram Grant.

i think its a shame hes got a good record since hes been there thats the prob when u hav to much money

These big money owners have very high standards but my goodness what has a manager to do in his 1st year to get any credit. He took them to final of Carling cup, last day of season for the league and an awful penalty away from the CL trophy and he got the sack...unbelievable.

Now that is a farce at Hearts...they were doing so well under Burley and (mutually agreed lol) to sack him and alledged he had a drink problem....would he really be Scotland manager if that was in any way true.

it is a shame but was expected in a way. If i was pouring big money into a club i would want results but thats difficult without a consistant team / manager... double edged sword really.

premierships most successful manager has been at the same team for 22 years... so must mean something eh.

and that pains me to say - as a chelsea supporter!!!

I agree with you there but he took something like 6-7 years to win the league but the club stood by him and that paid off big time, nowdays it takes immediate success, look at Sven, he has done well at City and is reportedly getting the boot.

yeah he joined in '86 but didnt achieve any real success until the dream team era (giggs beckham etc). also dont know how sucessful he was before man u.

I think grants done well considering its his first experience in the premiership nd thought he had alot more to give... on the other hand it could have taken him 20 years like harry redknapp lol

I,m a United fan and to be honest i think Grant being sacked is playing into any opponets hands! I reckon he has done o.k. and deserved better. You can have all the money you like, blame all you like but yourselves. It,s not always about money, there is a lot more to football.

First of all chelski should realise where the problems are! If you think you,ve got rid of one, then another and another, the list will go on. New manager, same old problems, get the overated thugs to play football then you might get some respect.

As for the owner who thinks he can ride roughshot over anything as long he has got his big bucks-well by already looking at the situation over the last few seasons i guess you are kidding yourselves.Looks like no change there to me.

Chelski are trying to buy whatever they want, that,s why they,ve got no respect. All the other teams playing football have got where they are by sucess ie spent the success money on investments in players therefore helping their respective club go forward. The top teams obviously who have been and still are doing what they,ve done for years since being established have practiced this. That is the system nothing new about that,or overseas players being used.We see some changes because of media coverage etc but it is still the same system.

Occasionally someone bucks the trend against the odds, that happens and long may it continue.Football isn,t an exact science no matter what you do,that,s what makes the game great. From the mighty clubs down to the minnows, the clubs need each other to survive for football to survive.

You don,t always get what you want out of a player you invest in,every manager from the big clubs to minnows will tell you that. So i guess the system as said isn,t exact. It not always down to the manager.Alex Ferguson along with all the other managers have got players and done no good with them, they get rid of them for various reasons.

I always think that the thing you need most is grit and determination to succede, you don,t always get this in a player no matter what he costs. This is why the public love a trier,in otherwords given it a go..hence the underdog syndrome.

Football will go on without Grant at chelski but will lessons be learned..not too sure about that, will have to see what next.

I guess the taking over of clubs by moneybags is something different, who knows where this will lead to.Some are saying to destruction, too much football just like snooker is on the tv. The players wages go up and up and past on to the supporters at the gate. Football is being taken out of the very hands that need it to survive, ordinarily people form the streets( ordinarily people without the wages to afford to go and watch their club). And lets,s face it,no player is worth the money they get, compared to ordinarily joe public who has to slog it out on near minimum wages .You could argue well good luck to them, short career etc...try thinking that when you see a player like Drogba in a European cup final doing what he did.Spoilt over-priced players acting like kids, but will chelski learn..i very much don,t think so..same again for them for me i think. But from a United point of view bring them on next season.
.

I am pretty shocked by this move.

I just dont understand why it is so easy for a premiership manager to get sacked so fast - surely this can only add to the pressure they are already under?

you dont have to be a premier manager to get the sack look at madrid fook won the league and european trophey and still get sacked
the football this last 4 yrs has gone fookin stupid
we all have to do what chelski done but can we no

what we should do is say only x amount of ££££££££ can be spent by english football clubs this will even the problem
looking at chelsea they bought players that other clubs wanted to stop them buying them
i know i may look as though i am bitter
but look at chelsea they bought swp and very rear played him and this could go for many more they signed

This was bound to happen it was the worst kept secret of the season in the premier league!

He was like a caretaker manager for the season but Chelsea wouldn't admit that and now come end of season he is sacked. He would have been sacked even if he won a trophy!

its been talked about for months that he would go at the end of the season and some say even if chelski had won prem and cl he still would have gone.

it does seem strange to us mere mortals but i suppose its abramovich's train set and he can do what he likes.

he is obviously a very shrewd business man to be in the position he is in, i suspect he is employing the same tactics he would use in his other business's.

If the man you want or need in a position is not available you get the next best man but when the number 1 is available its bye bye and the number 1 is installed even if the number 2 has done a good job.
