road tax?

bought a vaxhall astra 1.6 (2001/y reg) recently
my previous car was 1996 registration.

now my road tax is due soon and would like to know if i need to do a exaust emission test at another garage before the actual test?

or do i just book a mot test as per usual?

if it has a cat on it just get a flush this will do the job i get one every mot run it for 15 mins thats it .
not oil flush you put in with petrol

As manutd4life says it's part of the test so they will do it there. I assume you're asking to find out if the readings taken at the centre are in relation to how much tax you pay?

AFAIK the tax is based on the emissions at the time the car was made i.e. the manufacturers/government test figures and not the emissions at the time of the test. I could be wrong though so clarification from anyone would be appreciated.

The mot emission test has nothing to do with your road tax, just get it mot'd as usual.

Im pretty sure the tax has nothing to do with the MOT

It is dependent on the ommisions band chosen for that particular car.

If i am not mistaken the astra 01 plate is band E

Tax bands are decided by year of manufacture and makers specs for how much emissions to determine what tax band.
