More than 200 football fans have been stranded at Gatwick airport after their flight to Moscow for the final of the Champions League was cancelled.

The 224 Chelsea supporters had planned to fly to Russia on a special charter flight, leaving the airport's south terminal at 0555 BST.

An airport spokesman said a technical problem caused the cancellation.

Some of the fans have left the airport because they are too late to get to the match, which starts at 1945 BST.

Manchester United and Chelsea are competing to become the European champions in the competition's first all-England final.

With the amount of money they must have spent, they going to be well p***ed off!

Chancing the final of a lifetime on a day return to Moscow wasn't exactly genius.

I'm sure Roman will reimburse them. Missing the chance to see a live champions league final will be hard to swallow though?

lol tell me about it. I had the chance to go, tickets were on general sale up until yesterday. My cousin rang me last week saying that him and his bro are going, if i wanted to join them. Tickets were £120 and he found charter flights for £700. I turned it down...

Now im regretting it BIG time, they're in Moscow and im stuck at home.. lol
