is one better than the other for use in a diesel van? fookin 124.9p a litre for diesel is taking the piss, if i put 20 litres of diesel and 10 litres of oil will this do any harm?

Have you seen this video m8

lol think me is gonna buy an old diesel merc

Think it depends on how old the van is, the newer models are harder to run on oil without engine modification than older models

I am so tempted to get an old car to give it a try, I have a petrol Mondeo, if only it was Deisel.

Vegetable oil it will work fine could mix it 50-50 with regular diesel as it is thicker and especially if the weather is cold then it gets really thick. That could cause all sorts of problems for your fuel pump if it's to thick.

a lot of speculation out there. it seems that for every person who says it works well in their engines there is some one else who says it wont work. Found this site which seems to have some good ideas and answers

I use to use sunflower oil in me old toyota previa worked a treat just use to put half/half of each in lol...

Great for those long journeys.

I've always wanted a Diesel car, my next car will definately be a Diesel MPV and I'll guarantee you I'll be running it on chip fat :)

(obviously not lard ;) )

i used to work in a chippy and the owner used to keep all the oil and put it through home made filters in his garden and put it in cans to save he runs it in a range rover and swear's it runs better than just diesel on its own

I saw someone doing that on the news, he goes to local chippies and gets it for nowt as they dont have to dispose of it then.

Pesoanlly I prefer sunflower when cooking but I aint using it in my car as its petrol.

Its a suck it and see im afraid. First look at your fuel pump then do a search and see if most people think its okay, lucas ones are poo with anything other than diesel, but saying that mine is a lucas in my Tourneo and I make my own biodiesel and run that 50/50 without trouble.

Try 10% cheapest veg or sunflower and if its fine up to 20% and so on until your happy, but do make sure with the pump first, after all you wouldn't want a large repair bill, would you?
