Hi me and about 9 other friends (10 in total) are looking for a Villa in the Barcelona area for a week in August.

Basically we want to know a place to stay with good nightlife like clubs pubs bars etc, thats close to a beach and also close to Barcelona city.

We found a place called Sitges which seemed perfect except in August it turns into a gay and lesbian festival town. Now as far as im aware we are all straight so this is kinda out the question :)

Does anyone know a nice place that suits this criteria; nightlife, beach and close to Barca city?

Id say a 30 minute drive or train or bus etc to the city is about maximum and preferably alot closer. Would be nice to be within walking distance of the beach too (10-15 mins walk max).

thanx for any help

Do you need a beach?surely find a hotel with pool etc in the city.Nightlife spot on,been on few stag do's.

thanx guys il let the others know. We really wanted a Villa so we could all be together instead all going into one hotel room.

However that could be a better option and looks like the closer to Barcelona city the better if its got lots of beaches anyway.

How about here - lots of pubs, clubs, restuarants and its practically on the beach! :)

The more I hear you guys talk about this, the more depressed I get that I can't go :(

lol u can go just tell the NG to feck off like u did last year :) If u look at the villas too the changeover day is Saturday which would be the 2nd which would mean u could go!

I went last year for the Englad game and am going again this year at some point in August or September whenever it is we play Andorra.

From all the times i have been i have found it best to look for a bar near to the street Calle Ferran. Here there are loads of bars up and down the street, and just off there is a square which the name of escapes me but its great for nightlife in all the clubs around the square.

Just dont make the mistake of getting a hotel in the square, very noisy.

went there abt 10 years ago and had a fab time, hopping to take the wife sometime in the next year without the kids tho lol
Theres a good few fun bars along the front of the harbour - definitely worth a look after a nice meal in the area - drink is abit pricey. Well worth visiting tho mate.
Might be a bit pricely to stay need the habour are a few hotels, like the olympic hotel 5 star, massage, foot rub the whole nine yards but even if your a little bit outside the centre of the barcelona the subway is great, very cheap compaired to London and hardly gets packed.
One place to go tho is the New Camp thats gotta be on your list. Not sure if they still do but when i went the players use to train right outside the ground on special courts which you could just watch.
Even going on the tour is well worth it. Just don't do what i did and try and find a short cut to get into the New camp and enter the first random building. I ended up walking round the Basketball stadium even on the court at one point, till a cleaner seen me and being English i just started saying and pointing "New Camp" New Camp" louder each time, i got there in the end tho lol

Been there a few times, best one however was with my uni, we didn't stay far off of the strip AFAIR.
There was some kind of shopping center type place full of clubs by the beach where I seem to remember spending most our nights (bout 7 years back now though).

Lots of Euro techno trash music back then, but the amount of beautiful european girls about made it worth while. We ended up in trying to outdo each other on the amount of EU countries we could pull...

ahh the memories....

Visit URBO>COM. It lists thousands of places world wide, good choice and all prices. best of luck. Don't forget to barfgain when they quote particuarly if going to the states.

mmm, we're talking about Barcelona here.

you have places like callella and lloret de mar which are dirt cheap and cheerful. we went for five night all inclusive food and drink for £110 each in March this year and £120 last year in May. These are about 45 mins car from barca took us about 1+1/2 hours by train though.

check out ryan air august 11th to 18th from glasgow to girona (about 50 miles from barcelona) £19.99 each way each plus taxes
good price for august i would say

Just look after your stuff.
Barcelona has the reputation of being the pickpocket capital of Europe

thanx for all the replies guys think we need to rethink the arrangmements now, a villa just seems stupid for what we want. Nice in theory but not very practical.

I stayed in Barcelona for a year just before the Olympics were held there.

A lot has changed since then, but it's still one of the best cities in the world to visit.

The nightlife was there if you want it, but the places we went to were out of the normal touristy areas.

For eating out, you're spoilt for choice.
There are the normal tapas bars dotted almost everywhere, and plenty of Catalan restaurants to choose from.
One of our fave diners was "Siete Puertas" (seven doors), they serve a mean paella. I've just googled, it looks as if it's still there.

Culture? Surrounded by it!!!
We stayed in a couple of flats, but the most memorable was straight across the road from the Sagrada Familia. I was even asked to photograph a wedding there.

Beaches.
The main beach when I was there was at Barcelonetta, this was just on the outskirts of the city & walking distance for us.
The surrounding areas tended to smell a little
Sitges is a very nice resort, fair enough, it does have it's fair share of people who are a tad light on their loafers, but as long as you don't "present" on the beach...you'll be safe LoL

Further up the coast & a short journey by bus/train is Calella, Malgrat, Blanes, Lloret, Gerona.
These are well established resorts if you fancy a bit of the fish & chips, Queen Vic, Rose & Thistle $hite that seems to spring up on Spanish coasts.

As for going on a holiday with mates, it may not be your thing.

I would thoroughly recommend everyone to visit this amazing city at least once...preferrably with your other half.

Whichever decision you make...have a good one m8 :)

I agree with seedy m8.
Ive stayed in Barcalona and in Lloret de mar.
I'd say go with the lads to Lloret, have a day trip to Barcelona by train, (even the station is amazing) then take the Mrs for a long weekend sometime ;)

The segrada familia is a must. You can get the lift to the top!
Some girls tried to pick my pocket whilst I was stood in the queue for the feckin thing!!

It really is a fantastic place, but I can't imagine 10 young Scots being interested in beautiful architecture and fine cuisine lol

Plenty of beach, totty, bars and cheap hotels in Lloret and within travelling distance of Barca :)

it might be quite difficult to get a villa for this august, very nice places usually get booked out almost a year in advance
