LNER Class A4 4464 Bittern arriving at Pickering station

This picture reminded me of the photos in the old Ian Allan Train books and took me back to trainspotting as a kid.
I remember going to Kings Cross on different occassions to see The Bittern and also two other Pacific Class A4 Locomotives, The Mallard and the Sir Nigel Gresley which was named after the man who designed the Class A4 and also the Class A1, which included one of the most famous Steam Locomotives ever, The Flying Scotsman.
So @Bewby55 thanks for invoking that memory !

Re: May's submission thread.

there dose not seem to be much interest in this photo competition to me seems a bit of a wast of time if im honest members just don't seem to have any time for it :'(

Re: May's submission thread.

I know what you mean, a shame really always thought we had a reasonable amount of amateur toggers to support a comp, thanks for your comments guys, I would love the opportunity to photograph ships, the nearest place to me is Hull and not too many there though and difficult to get near for a decent angle as it were, luckily we have the NYMR in Pickering and they have visiting steam engines so we get a bit of variety

Re: May's submission thread.

Something I have noticed however is that the monthly competition threads don't show up when new posts is clicked on also when an entry is posted or when the vote thread is started, I never see any of the competition threads in the the new post list, only if I go to the full forum list and scroll down to the relevant section whereas if someone posts something about a youtube video etc (or any other forum) they instantly show up in the 'new posts' list.

Perhaps the idea of a competition puts some people off because they feel their technique is not up to standard ? But it would be a shame to not have members post photos on a regular basis, so maybe something like a "What Clicked Your Button" or "What Have You Photographed" Monthly Collection, which hopefully would at least have some members posting a few pics on a regular basis.
I'll ask my daughter if she would mind me posting some of the snaps she has taken, whilst on her photography course.

This has been tested, and is working as it should.

However, there isn't much traffic to this section, so the posts may be getting lost in between the posts of more popular areas.

Can I suggest subscribing to the room? At least that way you can pick up any posts from your settings page.

I've had similar experience, I didn't see the thread until just a couple of days before the deadline- didn't leave much time to go snapping :( Might be an idea to simply post a link to next month's comp in this thread, that way at least We will get the heads-up?

Anyway, conngrat's to @brewby55, well done m8. Well deserved
