how do you do it ?, i have a mobile on 3, how do i tether it to my galaxy tab & do they charge, i was under the assumption that it would be free as i have all you can eat data as does the grandbairn & shes going away for 4 days and the hotel isn't free wifi, its £5 per hour or something , was just gonna show her & let her take the tablet but i aint a clue

It's not normally free and comes as a 'tethering pack' although I know three were offering it with their contracts, so check your Ts & C's

Basically you connect to the phone over Wifi (hotspot) much in the same way you would connect to a wireless router.

cheers mate, will give them a bell in the morning & check if she has it for free, might work out cheaper just paying the hotel charge

If you are on the Three One plan then tethering is permitted.

The One Plan comes with:
All-you-can-eat data
2000 any network minutes
5000 Three-to-Three minutes
5000 texts
Tethering included

Though your contract may say you can't do it, you may well find that it works and as long as you don't go crazy they don't care. Worse case is they will tell you stop doing it and offer the chance to upgrade your contract.

If you don't want to upgrade your contract then you could get a mifi dongle and 3GB pre-paid SIM off ebay for a tenner.

did you figure it out? what phone you using? even tho most phones have the option, the network needs to provision the APN on their network. as the above post says, they're loads of ways around it. Just depends on your handset
